During an interaction with Chris Killian from ComicBook while promoting her new movie “Riff Raff”, Jennifer Coolidge recounted an unusual incident involving Bill Murray that showcases the actor’s well-known candor. This peculiar event unfolded during the film’s press tour in Toronto, where the cast attended a premiere screening and subsequent interviews. Instead of a typical press junket, this encounter became quite memorable as it took Coolidge by surprise when Murray chose to disregard standard interview decorum. The incident, though surprising, appears to align with Murray’s longstanding practice of challenging Hollywood conventions and expressing his thoughts openly, even in potentially uncomfortable social situations.

View Urgent ForecastWhen Killian enquired from Coolidge if she had any anecdotes about Bill Murray to share, she promptly narrated the story of the Toronto event.
Coolidge shared that we attended the initial showing of ‘Riff Raff’ in Toronto. To be honest, I was thrilled because I hadn’t watched it before and I had no clue what it would be like.
During a post-screening group interview, the interviewer inquired about Coolidge’s character during the discussion. In response, she offered insights into her role, painting a picture of a woman who has experienced hard times and is struggling due to her husband’s waning affection. However, Murray’s interruption unexpectedly halted this typical press conference remark.
As stated by Coolidge, Murray, who was seated behind her, abruptly declared, ” ‘Oh, isn’t anyone interested in your personality? Oh, I long for personality! This is my personality, observe!’ He added, ‘I am simply tired of listening about someone’s personality.'” This unexpected outburst left Coolidge taken aback.
She shared with Killian, “It’s not often people speak like that. Frankly, I found it quite daring of him to say it. Yet, there was something amusing about it, and it seemed oddly bold of him to voice his thoughts.
It caught Coolidge off guard how readily Murray made those remarks to someone they had scarcely met.
He’s unpredictable… it seems like people will compliment you because they don’t know you that well,” she mused.
Over time, these spontaneous and unexpected encounters have contributed to the enigma that surrounds Murray. His quirky actions, such as gatecrashing events or delivering secretive comments to admirers, have grown to be just as recognized as his acting accomplishments in shaping his public image.
Title character Riff Raff stars Coolidge, Murray, Ed Harris, Gabrielle Union, and Pete Davidson. The story revolves around Vincent (Harris), a former criminal seeking a peaceful life. However, his tranquil winter family vacation is thrown into chaos as his estranged son and ex-wife arrive with dire warnings about dangerous gangsters pursuing them. As of now, you can catch the movie in theaters.
