For eager Prime Video subscribers anticipating the fifth and final season of “The Boys,” tantalizing glimpses and backstage tidbits are being dished out by the cast and team. The rowdy superhero series is infamous for its unpredictability, but one thing that’s certain about the upcoming episodes is a reunion from the world of “Supernatural.” Actor Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins have signed up to join Jensen Ackles in Season 5, and Ackles recently expressed that the reunion evoked feelings of returning “home.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but notice the striking connection between “The Boys” and the iconic series “Supernatural,” both masterfully crafted by Eric Kripke. It’s no surprise then that some familiar faces from the long-running CW series have graced our screens in “The Boys.” For instance, Jensen Ackles, who initially appeared in the third season as Vought’s first superhero, Soldier Boy, returned for Season 5. Intriguingly, Kripke hinted at the returns of Jared Padalecki and Jim Beaver in unspecified roles. Recently, while discussing his upcoming Prime show, “Countdown,” Ackles shared with TooFab his feelings about working with these colleagues once more.
Jared and Misha feel more like my brothers than just co-stars. We’ve spent an enormous amount of time together, both on set and off, which makes our interactions effortless and comfortable. It’s as if we never left each other’s company. Whenever I get the chance to work with them again, it’s always a delight.
Despite running into each other often at conventions and maintaining contact in various ways, collaborating on set once more for these three is an entirely different ball game. Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles were the leads of Supernatural for all 15 seasons, with Collins joining in season four. Since then, their bond has deepened into a brotherhood. It appears that their relationship hasn’t shifted much since their show ended five years ago.
Having them reunite also brings a chance for a humorous reworking of the controversial ending in Supernatural. Despite the divisiveness among fans regarding the drama’s series finale, the return of Ackles, Padalecki, and Collins on The Boys offers an opportunity (though not necessarily literal) for Kripke to address those issues. Personally, as a fan, I’m simply thrilled at the prospect of these three talented actors appearing together once more.

Deal Available
The final season of the series “The Boys” is scheduled for release in 2026, but a specific date has not been given yet. Although fans will have to wait longer to see more Soldier Boy, there’s still more content featuring Jensen Ackles on the horizon. In the meantime, fans can stay busy by watching Ackles’ new series, “Countdown,” which also features Eric Dane and Jessica Camacho. This show is set to debut on Prime Video on June 25, and fans of “Supernatural” are already hooked on Ackles.
I’m optimistic that the Supernatural reunion on The Boys will prove to be worth the patience required to see it. Eric Kripke, as a skillful producer, likely wouldn’t gather Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins without a compelling reason. For now, remember that all 15 seasons of the television show airing on The CW can be streamed with a Netflix subscription. And certainly, don’t forget to catch up on the superhero series by watching the first four seasons before the final season arrives.
