Jeremy Allen White is The Boss in first trailer for Bruce Springsteen film

Following much anticipation and dialogue surrounding Jeremy Allen White‘s future major character, we are now privy to the initial glimpse of the forthcoming Bruce Springsteen movie titled “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere.

This upcoming October, the film places White in the central character, portraying the legendary rockstar, and the trailer offers a sneak peek into the narrative that’s about to unfold.

The movie is set against the scenery of Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 Nebraska album, an outstanding work that significantly impacted his career and represented a crucial period in his life as a rock musician.

Besides offering a sneak peek into the process behind creating the album and tour, the trailer additionally delves into certain complex aspects of Springsteen’s history that lingered over time. We also catch a glimpse of the intriguing relationship he shared with his father Doug, portrayed in the movie by Stephen Graham.

As a dedicated cinema enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Jeremy Strong from Succession has taken on the role of Jon Landau, Bruce Springsteen’s trusted confidant and manager in the upcoming biopic. Additionally, Paul Walter Hauser steps into the shoes of guitar tech Mike Batlan, while Gaby Hoffmann brings Adele, Springsteen’s mother, to life on screen.

In addition to this, Odessa Young portrays Springsteen’s romantic interest, Marc Maron takes on the role of Chuck Plotkin, and David Krumholtz steps into the character of Columbia executive, Al Teller.

The movie, titled “Deliver Me from Nowhere” (based on Warren Zanes’ novel of the same name), was both scripted and helmed by Scott Cooper in its cinematic adaptation.

Upon unveiling the trailer, Cooper expressed that creating the project moved him profoundly because it provided a chance to delve into the heart of an artist he’s long respected – and to observe, at a closer range, the raw vulnerability and powerful resilience embodied within his music.

Embarking on this project felt like navigating through personal memories, mythology, and reality. What made it truly special was having the opportunity to authentically convey such raw emotional depth onto the screen. This process left an indelible mark on me. I am deeply grateful to Bruce and Jon Landau for entrusting me with their story, as it has not only been a privilege but also a transformative experience that I will always cherish.

According to the movie summary, it tells the story of how Bruce Springsteen created his 1982 Nebraska album while being a young artist on the brink of worldwide fame. He was grappling with the tension between the demands of success and the lingering spirits from his past.

The album was created using a 4-track recorder in Bruce Springsteen’s bedroom during the springtime. This album represents a significant moment in his life and is often regarded as one of his most lasting contributions—a stripped-down, eerie acoustic piece filled with characters who have lost hope but are still seeking reasons to believe.

Lately, Graham has shared insights about Springsteen’s reaction to witnessing Graham play his deceased father. In an interview with Edith Bowman on Soundtracking, Graham remarked: “Working with Jeremy Allen is similar to working with Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in their prime. He’s fantastic, truly exceptional. He’s incredibly talented, but he’s not just a great actor; he’s also an outstanding individual.

He continued: “His message simply read, ‘Thank you so much.’ It turned out, his father had passed away some time back, and he felt as if he saw him today, all thanks to your interaction. Reading that text made me cry, I hope you understand. That moment was truly touching and priceless.
