Jeremy Clarkson hits back at Chris Harris’s remarks on Top Gear Tesla controversy

As a long-time fan who has witnessed the highs and lows of Top Gear throughout its transformative journey, I find myself firmly siding with Jeremy Clarkson on this matter. The electric car industry may have grown exponentially since 2008, but the Tesla Roadster’s shortcomings were evident to even the most novice of drivers.

Jeremy Clarkson refutes Chris Harris’ accusations, stating that his 2008 assessment of a Tesla car wasn’t fabricated in any manner.

Over the past few years, the electric vehicle company founded and headed by Elon Musk has gained considerable recognition, though at the moment of the assessment, it was somewhat specialized or specific.

Consequently, featuring the initial version of the Tesla Roadster on Top Gear offered a significant promotional chance, but the outcome fell short of what the company’s leaders anticipated, given Jeremy Clarkson’s substantial criticisms of the vehicle.

What stood out most was that it experienced brake failure, engine overheating, and battery death within 55 miles, and with Clarkson reporting a charging time of 16 hours, this proved to be a significant hassle.

In a dispute, Tesla filed a lawsuit against Top Gear for defamation and intentional lies, arguing that their review was deceitful. However, the British courts dismissed this claim back in 2011.

Nevertheless, following Top Gear host Harris seemed to reignite the tension yet again in a recent appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience. He commented that Jeremy Clarkson’s Tesla review was “mischievous”.

Joe Rogan claimed that Top Gear intentionally made it seem like Elon Musk’s car had broken down, all as part of a comedy skit, while Richard Hammond asserted that the show occasionally manipulated results to fit specific scenes.

Clarkson has now hit back against these comments in a column for The Sun.

He mentions that there are numerous fictitious accounts regarding my time hosting Top Gear… In the grand picture, however, it’s not significant.

As a passionate cinephile, it really irks me when Joe and Chris keep peddling the false narrative that my Tesla road test wasn’t fair. It’s high time they acknowledged the facts!

In actuality, Elon Musk sued BBC over the issue and was unsuccessful in both his initial case and subsequent appeal. However, it may seem hard to believe, but that’s exactly what transpired.

On Top Gear, we’ve often caused controversy and offended many people throughout the years. However, it’s important to note that our car reviews have always been meticulously unbiased.

The popular show Top Gear has been temporarily halted due to a serious accident involving previous host Freddie Flintoff, resulting in significant injuries for him, and it remains uncertain when the program will return.

Initially, the program was hosted by former cricketer Harris and Paddy McGuinness, who formed a partnership as Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond departed from the show over time.
