Jessica Gunning Jokes About Almost Flashing the Crowd at Golden Globes

Jessica Gunning came this close to a wardrobe malfunction at the 2025 Golden Globes.

Gosh, greetings! I almost took an unexpected tumble just now,” I said, as I gracefully made my way onto the stage to receive my award for Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries or Television Film. “I nearly had you all witnessing an unplanned show of my Golden Globe!” (Check out all the stars who took home awards from the January 5 ceremony.)

It’s quite likely that nobody would have noticed her trip, but she broke the ice with a lively joke, which made the crowd smile instead.

Describing it as a “fantastic accolade,” the British actress proceeded to share a charming, work-appropriate anecdote following her recognition for her part as a cheerful watcher in the Netflix mini-series.

Gunning shared a video from when he was eight years old. For Christmas, his parents had surprised him with a hamster. They brought it out in a cage wrapped in a bag – not just in a bag, ‘Merry Christmas.’ With a strong Yorkshire accent, he kept repeating, “I can’t believe this is happening to me. I can’t believe this is happening to me.

She went on to say, “This morning, it struck me that ‘Baby Reindeer’ has been like a background melody for my life over the past year since its release. I can hardly believe all these incredible events are actually happening to me.

With this, she expressed gratitude towards everyone involved, encompassing not just her dear friends but also her cherished family members, whom she adores beyond measure.

However, Gunning reserved her ultimate admiration for the creator and lead actor of Baby Reindeer, as well as the recipient of her character’s unwitting affection – Richard Gadd.

She expressed her gratitude, saying, “The show has had such a profound impact on my life that I struggle to put it into words, but let me try: It’s indescribable! So, thank you for everything. Honestly, I never thought this moment would come true, and neither would the 8-year-old version of myself – she’d be thrilled beyond belief.

Previously, Gunning was awarded an Emmy for the Best Supporting Actress category in a Limited Series or Movie, which she received in September.
