Filming has started for ITV’s After the Flood, with fresh actors joining Sophie Rundle as she reprises her role as Jo Marshall in the lead.
Last year, ITV officially announced the continuation of the series for its second season. In this new installment, we follow Detective Jo Marshall as she delves into a complex and puzzling murder case.
Alun Armstrong, Jill Halfpenny, Ian Puleston-Davies, and Matthew McNulty are set to join the show. Meanwhile, Nicholas Gleaves, Lorraine Ashbourne, Philip Glenister, Matt Stokoe, and Faye McKeever will continue in their roles along with Rundle.
The following actors are also reprising their roles: Tripti Tripuraneni, Heider Ali, Leo Flanagan, Jacqueline Boatswain, George Bukhari, and Maui Connock.
Andy Pryor, casting director for Quay Street Productions, commented on the new cast members and returning actors: “It’s remarkable to bring aboard such accomplished, well-known personalities for our show, which underscores the exceptional storytelling by Mick Ford. He consistently creates a gripping tale brimming with intriguing and captivating characters.
We’re absolutely thrilled with the top-notch actors who will be back and joining us in After the Flood for season 2. Each cast member fits their role flawlessly, and we can’t wait to witness their portrayals come alive on screen.
In the upcoming six-episode series, you’ll witness escalating tension in the town of Waterside as the danger of wildfires on the moorland increases, potentially leading to more flooding. This unfolds simultaneously with the discovery of a body under unusual conditions.
As Jo pursues the murderer, she encounters powerful and secretive entities within the town, which eventually leads her to a probe that gets intensely personal.
In my perspective, I find myself drawn to a situation where stealth and discretion are essential for success. If I am to unearth the deep-rooted corruption that has been tainting our town’s law enforcement for decades, and even my own family, it must be done covertly.
