Jim Carrey's Sister Rita Carrey Dead

As a lifestyle expert with years of experience, I find it deeply saddening to learn about the passing of Rita Carrey, the beloved sister of Jim Carrey. From my perspective, Rita seemed to be a woman who lived life to its fullest, cherishing every moment and making a positive impact on those around her. Her zest for life was evident in her love for Christmas, which she celebrated daily, and her dedication to helping others, even strangers.

The Carrey family is mourning a loss.

It’s sad to report that Rita Carrey, the elder sister of Jim Carrey, passed away on November 14th. Her husband, Alex, confirmed this news via a Facebook post on the following day.

In a heartfelt message shared on her account, he expressed his grief and sorrow, stating that “Rita took her final peaceful breath, surrounded by her cherished loved ones.

Alex pointed out that although he and Rita, a Canadian native who’s lived with him for 16 years, finally tied the knot last July, it was in an outdoor ceremony that she had long desired.

He went on to say, “We journeyed across the globe and made numerous friends along the way. Among them, Rita stood out as my dearest friend, companion, and stunning spouse. Rita possessed a heart full of love and always yearned to assist anyone, from acquaintances to strangers.

Alex also shared insight into life with his longtime love.

As her spouse mentioned, the TV and radio host held Christmas as her most cherished holiday. He humorously commented that she seemed to celebrate it every day, and this festive spirit led her to initiate a fundraising campaign for a nearby charity.

He penned, “This journey with Rita has been both delightful and exhilarating. She consistently brought happiness wherever she went, a radiance that will forever remain etched in my memory. She was not just wonderfully talented, but truly exceptional.

Alex concluded his message to Rita with a line from James Blunt’s “Goodbye My Lover,” saying, “Until we cross paths once more. Truly, you enjoyed the peak of your days. Yours forever, your dearest friend and spouse, Alex.

To pay tribute to Rita, Alex asked people to join him at a candlelight vigil held in her honor on December 7, 2024, at Heathcote Terrace in St. Catharines. He also urged everyone to participate in the Christmas on the Terrace community event to support Gillian’s Place – a shelter for victims of abuse and violence in Ontario. In addition, he requested that contributions be made directly to this organization in Rita’s memory.

TopMob News has reached out to Jim for comment, but has not heard back.

Rita was born to parents Kathleen and Percy Carrey, who were the older siblings of actor Jim Carrey. Along with her brother John Carrey (who unfortunately passed away in 2019) and sister Patricia Carrey, she formed part of the Carrey family.

For several years, she served as a radio presenter, her most recent stint being with “The Peet and Reet Show,” working alongside Pete Dychtiar. Additionally, she was part of a classic rock band known as the Rita Carrey Band, where she performed.
