Jim Ross Warns AEW Not to Rush Ricochet: "Let's Let [Him] Get Over"

As a seasoned gamer of wrestling rings and a witness to countless matches, I must say, AEW has just added another feather to its cap with Ricochet’s debut. The man is a high-flying marvel, no doubt about it. However, as someone who’s seen the rise and fall (and sometimes rise again) of many wrestling stars, I can’t help but echo Jim Ross’ words of caution.

As a gamer stepping into the ring, I’m pumped to declare that I’ve joined the All Elite squad! After a thrilling wait, I made my AEW debut at AEW ALL IN: London, surprising everyone in the Casino Gauntlet Match. Though I didn’t take home the win, the buzz around me was deafening and I became the focus of conversation after the show. The following Dynamite event saw me going head-to-head with Kyle Fletcher in an exhilarating matchup.

Jim Ross hopes All Elite Wrestling takes its time with its newest acquisition.

On his Grilling JR podcast, the esteemed WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW commentator advised AEW to give Ricochet some patience, emphasizing that he requires time to establish a unique identity among the roster, rather than just resembling others.

Ross emphasized the importance of patience when it comes to nurturing someone’s growth, stating, “We should be mindful not to hasten his development.” He explained this is crucial because AEW is filled with exceptionally athletic performers who excel in impressive stunts, making it necessary to find ways to stand out from the crowd.

In the mid-2010s, Ricochet gained recognition for his unique wrestling style on the independent circuit. At that time, only Will Ospreay came close to matching his repertoire, resulting in a string of exceptional matches between the two in 2016 and 2017.

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but marvel at the exceptional roster of AEW, where stars like Sammy Guevara, Hologram, Kyle Fletcher, Pac, and more showcase their breathtaking high-flying acts. Ricochet may hold a special place, but these guys sure know how to keep the excitement levels soaring!

For casual wrestling fans, a move might look ordinary, but hardcore followers remember its history and past usage. They even know its original name. These moves have new names now and interesting stories behind them. So, it’s hoped that AEW doesn’t rush Ricochet since he isn’t well-liked right now.

As a gamer, I’m convinced Ricochet pulled off a stunning surprise debut and achieved his immediate objective. However, it’s now crucial for him to take some time to absorb and strategize about where he fits in the long run within the roster. AEW appears to be giving him that space, as they’ve hinted at an upcoming showdown with Ospreay, but haven’t made any moves just yet.

Fans adore him, and I’ve mentioned it numerous times on this program – wrestling enthusiasts appreciate novelty and surprises. At Wembley, Ricochet delivered on both counts, but let’s not rush things. I have high regard for the young man; he’s incredibly agile, but let him develop his moveset. Let’s observe him demonstrate the basics, see how it unfolds.
