10 renowned British comedians are offered an opportunity to enjoy a luxurious day together, yet they are forbidden from engaging in one crucial activity: sharing laughter.
It might seem straightforward, but when comedians like Bob Mortimer, Daisy May Cooper, Joe Lycett, Judi Love, Rob Beckett, Sara Pascoe, Lou Sanders, Joe Wilkinson, Harriet Kemsley, and Richard Ayoade engage in playful banter with the aim of making each other laugh, it turns out to be a more challenging task than one might initially assume.
In the British adaptation of a popular Japanese show, called “Last One Laughing UK,” comedians compete by attempting to make each other laugh. The series is led by Jimmy Carr as the host, and Roisin Conaty also plays a special role in it.
The role of the host for 8 Out of 10 Cats proved rather effortless, mostly involving sitting back while comedians concocted mischievous schemes to trick one another, and it was intriguing indeed, observing their level of competitiveness.

There’s something intriguing about it since humor generally isn’t very competitive. However, it gives off a vibe that makes one think, ‘Comedians can be surprisingly competitive.’ So, it has a distinct, unusual atmosphere.
Instead of just being a participant on comedy competitions like himself, why not give it a try as a contestant too? It’s quite common to see him hosting similar talk shows, and that’s because he excels in that role.
Comedy is my favorite type of entertainment, and finding myself not chuckling in such situations just seems odd to me. It feels strange to be surrounded by laughter and camaraderie, yet remain unmoved and unsupportive. It goes against the very essence of bonding and friendship.
Viewers must hold their anticipation for another week to discover who emerges victorious in the first season of Last One Laughing UK. However, some might already have an inkling about which contestant will endure longer than others, as Bob Mortimer is known among them as one of the most unforeseeable comedians in the group.
As a movie reviewer, I found myself uttering, “On more than one occasion, Bob Mortimer’s antics left me thinking, ‘This is it, the show should be wrapping up now.’ Yet, the humor was so infectious and the delivery so exceptional that I couldn’t help but stay. It was peculiar, almost surreal, to witness such an extended performance, especially given the extraordinary talents of the other performers who continued to captivate.
The show looks like it will be highly entertaining too, since there’s plenty of humor that has us chuckling in the production studio. I must admit, I laughed so hard I shed tears three times, which is quite rare.
