As a seasoned cinephile who’s spent countless hours in the dimly lit theaters of yesteryears and the sleek multiplexes of modern times, the news about Jimmy Carr penning a period-drama spoof titled “Fackham Hall” has left me more tickled than a vicar on a windy Sunday.
Renowned for his witty, borderline offensive, and thought-provoking humor, comic Jimmy Carr is collaborating with Patrick Carr and the Dawson brothers on a movie script. Filming for this project has commenced at Fawcett Hall – I can only assume there’s a joke hidden in that name somewhere!
The movie is a blend of serious period-drama and humor, and when the production was first unveiled, it was disclosed that filming would occur at various sites, such as Leeds and Liverpool. The main cast includes Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Thomasin McKenzie, Emma Laird, and Katherine Waterston, with Jim O’Hanlon set to direct.
Fackham Hall is set to parody the conventions of pieces such as Downton Abbey and Gosford Park.
“Fackham Hall is like finding a needle in a haystack – an exceptionally funny and clever period comedy that makes you laugh so hard it causes you to spit out your tea from multiple places at the same time. Yet, despite all the chaos, it manages to make you deeply care for the young couple at the heart of the story.
Mews Films, a subsidiary of Archery Pictures, was established four years ago in collaboration with Elysian Film Group. This collaboration aims to foster and develop comedic films tailored for the British theatrical market.
He’s a sharp comedian with a load of great one liners so lets hope that Jimmy Carr writes a movie again
