Jimmy Carter, 99, Is Still Alive Despite Death Hoax

As a dedicated follower of current events, I was deeply saddened to hear the recent rumors of Jimmy Carter‘s supposed demise. Having closely watched his remarkable life and career for decades, I couldn’t help but feel a personal connection to this esteemed statesman and humanitarian.

Jimmy Carter is not dead, contrary to recent rumors.

When when false reports of the demise of the previous American president, who is 99 years old, circulated, his physician stepped forward to clarify the situation.

Dr. Michael Raines, the Carter family’s doctor, assured WALB in an interview on July 23 that the circulating reports are incorrect. “Contrary to rumors, Dr. Carter is not deceased,” he clarified. “He is receiving hospice care and, considering the circumstances, is doing as well as can be expected.”

About a year and a half ago, Carter’s doctor reported that he had exited a critical phase at his Georgia residence, where he was receiving hospice care. The physician noted that Carter’s health had shown no major concerns during the past few weeks, or since their last encounter, which was scheduled for a revisit and routine check-up.

Rumors of Carter’s death emerged when a phony letter, resembling an official document, depicting his demise at his residence on July 23 circulated online on X. The author of the post confessed to fabricating the letter after it gained widespread attention just hours later.

They expressed their gratitude to all who were fooled by this: “We’re particularly grateful to those of you who proved my point – many focus solely on headlines.”

An additional secret message was inserted into the image’s descriptive text. It read, “Despite rumors, President Carter is alive and receiving hospice treatment. We wanted to test the credulity of individuals with provocative titles.”

In the actual letter, there were indications it was a forgery. It included a typing error and a questionable quote, where Carter apparently called his late wife Roslyn, who passed away in 2023 at 96 years old, a “baddie,” and mentioned Charli XCX’s new album as the “original Brat.”

The social media user explained that they wrote the letter in response to recent rumors about President Joe Biden, which emerged after his July 21 declaration that he would not be seeking re-election and was supporting Vice President Kamala Harris instead for the Democratic nomination.

As a lifestyle expert, I found it frustrating over the weekend how misinformation about President Biden’s health spread like wildfire. I felt compelled to take action and debunk this false information. Many people seem to enjoy spreading sensational news without taking the time to fact-check or verify their sources, which can be quite maddening.

Based on my own experiences and observations, I believe that the person speaking holds a deep respect for President Carter and his family. They are not harboring any negative feelings towards him, but rather admire him greatly for his dedication to our nation and his advocacy for democracy globally. This sentiment comes across as sincere and respectful.
