Jinger Duggar Shares 4-Year-Old Daughter Evangeline Was Rushed to ER

Reflecting upon the extraordinary lives of the Duggar family, it is truly astounding to observe how each member has carved out their unique niche within this vast, vibrant brood. One individual who particularly captures my attention is young Josie Duggar, born prematurely and weighing a mere 1 pound, 6 ounces.

Jinger Duggar Vuolo is recounting a scary ordeal with her daughter.

19 Kids and Counting ex-star disclosed that during the early hours of the night, her 4-year-old child, Evangeline, with husband Jeremy Vuolo, experienced difficulty breathing and had to be urgently taken to a hospital for treatment.

Reflecting back on that recent incident, I must admit it took me aback, as one does with unexpected events. Life often throws us curveballs, and it’s crucial to remain adaptable. Fortunately, everything turned out alright in the end.

Jeremy (the father of 6-year-old Felicity and expecting another child with Jinger) mentioned that he noticed Evangeline coughing around 10:30 in the evening.

He clarified that her symptoms were similar to a croup-like cough, which is often linked with respiratory infections. “Upon entering her room, I found her huddled over, visibly struggling for breath,” he continued. “Her cough was harsh and labored, making it difficult for her to both inhale and exhale. Concerned, I picked her up and rushed out, asking urgently, ‘Where’s the closest hospital?’

In a hurry, the pair swiftly took their daughter to the hospital, an experience that Jinger described as quite frightening.

The 30-year-old expressed concern, stating, “Her breathing wasn’t quite right,” and added, “We weren’t certain if it could be asthma or a similar condition.

Upon reaching the hospital, Jeremy took extra care to monitor his daughter closely, ready to respond if her breathing showed any signs of narrowing.

“She was OK, she was stable,” the 37-year-old continued. “She wasn’t turning blue.”

Meanwhile, physicians carried out multiple examinations on Evangeline due to her persistent cough, but couldn’t identify the cause. Instead, they opted to administer steroids to alleviate her symptoms, which appeared effective.

Jinger added, “We were really thankful that she was able to do well.”

The couple, who just celebrated eight years of marriage, are actively working to uncover the reasons behind Evangline’s health issue. At the same time, they are also concentrating on their expanding family, as it was recently announced that Jinger and Jeremy will be having a new addition in March. Remarkably, Jinger even managed to surprise her husband with this joyous news.

In an October interview with People, Jeremy expressed his astonishment, “When she revealed it to me, I was left utterly tongue-tied.” It happened on Felicity’s birthday. Jinger said, “I have a gift for you.” The gift was in an Amazon bag. So, I thought, ‘What could she have bought for me from Amazon?’ Then, as I unwrapped it, I discovered the positive test result, and I found myself speechless.

For a look at the rest of Jinger’s super-sized family, keep reading.

As a lifestyle guide, I’d put it this way: Your humble narrator once witnessed an extraordinary tale of love that began when two teenage souls, destined to become each other’s heartbeat, fell in love during their high school years. Over time, they grew into the parents of 19 and the grandparents of over three dozen little ones, a testament to their enduring bond.

Michelle recounted an experience where she felt ‘rescued’ at the age of 15. On a particular night, Jim Bob was conducting house visits as part of his Baptist church duties. A friend had hinted that “a schoolgirl who recently found faith and is a cheerleader” resided in the Ruark household, which led him to their doorstep.

They extended an invitation to Michelle to attend Sunday school at their church, and Jim Bob expressed hope that they could serve as each other’s spiritual mentors – although it seemed Michelle didn’t find their initial encounter particularly noteworthy. A year later, Michelle sought employment at the frozen yogurt shop run by Jim Bob’s parents. In a 2017 post on their family blog for Jim Bob’s birthday and their 33rd wedding anniversary, she recalled their first meeting at the shop: “You stood behind the counter near the cash register when we met, and you introduced yourself to me. You were timid but kind! I don’t recall much about that chat, except that you eventually summoned the nerve to ask me if I would accompany you to your junior-senior banquet!

At Shiloh Christian, they shared a dinner together, but it wasn’t until later, when they spent hours at her home discussing the Bible, that Michelle felt their bond deepen. As she put it, “Our hearts were woven together from that moment on.” They graduated high school in May of 1984 and got married just two months later, with Michelle being 17 years old and Jim Bob 19.

The couple dedicated themselves to God and each other for the long run.

Jim Bob previously held the position of a state legislator in Arkansas, serving from 1999 to 2002 in the House of Representatives for the sixth district. During his tenure, he was vice-chair of the Corrections and Criminal Law Subcommittee. He made an unsuccessful run for the U.S. Senate in 2002 and also failed to secure the Republican nomination for Arkansas State Senate District 35 in 2006.

They, along with Michelle, who are both real estate agents, have been involved in conservative movements – a part of their lives that earned them admiration and criticism from being both supporters and critics of the show “19 Kids and Counting,” which debuted in 2008 as “17 Kids and Counting.

As of October 2024, they were grandparents of 33 with three on the way.

The oldest Duggar family member, Josh Duggar, entered the world on March 3, 1988. Just like his family, he also took up conservative activism, advocating for organizations such as the Family Research Council.

In 2015, police records from his past emerged which showed that he had been accused of molesting multiple girls, among them his sisters Jessa Duggar and Jill Duggar, when he was a teenager. Jessa spoke out in defense of her brother during an interview with Fox News in June of the same year, stating that the accusations being leveled against Josh were “exaggerated and false, really.” She emphasized this, despite potential criticism, because she was one of the victims herself.

In a September 26, 2008 wedding that was showcased on the series “19 Kids and Counting,” his wife, Anna Duggar, stood by him, even after he confessed to infidelity.

In 2016, when he admitted himself to a rehabilitation facility, his parents referred to it as “an essential initial move towards recovery and healing.

The parents of Mackynzie (born October 8, 2009), Michael (June 15, 2011), Marcus (June 2, 2013), and later Anna, welcomed four more children into their family. The scandal occurred while they were expecting their fourth child, Meredith, born on July 16, 2015, the same day TLC canceled “19 Kids.” Their fifth child, Mason Garett, arrived on September 12, 2017, followed by Maryella Hope on November 27, 2019. The most recent addition to their family is Madyson Lily, born October 23, 2021, making her the seventh child in this lively brood.

In an indictment made public in April 2021, Josh faced charges for two separate offenses: receiving and possessing child pornography. He entered not guilty pleas for both charges. In 2022, a court found him guilty on both counts (however, the possession charge was dismissed by the judge). As a result, he received a sentence of 12 and a half years in prison.

Not long after Josh’s birth, Michelle experienced another pregnancy which ended in a miscarriage. As they mourned this loss and sought divine direction, they learned that they were expecting twins instead.

She shared that it felt like a special gift twice over, as if God was giving them extra support. They’re continuing to learn and grow. It’s quite extraordinary, she added, because while she breastfeeds her babies, her children are very close in age – only eight months separating them. This is just another example of the unique ways God has chosen to work in their lives.

John David Duggar and his twin sister Jana Duggar were born on Jan. 12, 1990.

Ever since I’ve been following their story from afar for quite some time now, it felt like destiny when they finally met at that church gathering in Oklahoma. Fast forward to a whirlwind romance and a brief engagement, and here I was, celebrating the beautiful union of John David and Abbie-Grace Burnett on Nov 3, 2018.

On January 7, 2020, they joyfully welcomed their daughter Grace Annette Duggar into the world, while Charlie Duggar, their son, joined them in September 2022.

On their 30th birthday in January 2020, Jana wrote a heartfelt message: “Since we were children, people have asked us if we share some sort of telepathic bond, feeling each other’s emotions or thoughts. John, I’ve always dismissed this idea, but the moment little Gracie was born, I experienced the exact same joy you did. So it seems that this special connection between us might be more than just a figment of imagination!

Jana went on, “It’s heartwarming to see you with Abbie in your parental role! You seem to have the knack for it! The very traits that have made you a fantastic sibling will undoubtedly make you a fantastic father.

Jana looked on as 11 out of her 18 siblings tied the knot before she met her partner, Stephen Wissmann. Interestingly, Hannah Wissmann – who is married to Jeremiah, one of Jana’s brothers – is connected to this story. Despite some expressed annoyances, Jana believed it was all part of a divine plan orchestrated by God.

In August 2024, just before her wedding, Jana shared with People that she hadn’t always grasped the larger scheme of things, but she trusts that God has the best plan for everyone. As such, her decision was to marry later. She expressed that if every story were identical, life would be monotonous, as each tale is unique in its own way.

Born on May 17, 1991, Jill Duggar Dillard found her love story echoing that of her parents’. It was on Christmas Day in 2011 that she crossed paths with Derick, who lived approximately 45 minutes away from her. This chance encounter took place when he dropped by the Duggar family residence during a caroling outing with his church group.

Jim Bob acted as a cupid, and Jill and Derick found themselves drawn to each other, communicating frequently via emails and Skype. Later in November, they decided to meet in person when Father and daughter traveled to Nepal to visit Derick. Their bond continued to strengthen, leading them to fall deeper in love. In February 2014, Derick requested Jim Bob’s blessing for Jill’s hand in marriage, which was granted. On June 21, 2014, they officially became a couple. They are now proud parents of three sons: Israel (born April 6, 2015), Samuel (born July 8, 2017), and Frederick (born July 7, 2022).

In April 2024, Jill announced that they had experienced a miscarriage during the pregnancy of their first daughter with Derick.

In the Amazon Prime Video documentary titled “Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets“, which was released in June 2023, Jill and Derick pondered over the contentious issues and religious convictions related to her family that were highlighted in the series.

Jim Bob and Michelle’s fifth child, Jessa Duggar, was born Nov. 4, 1992.

Jessa got acquainted with Ben at church, and he started courting her back in 2013 – an antiquated method of courtship that was quite novel for many viewers. As they were yet unengaged, the couple didn’t discuss their romantic affairs. To clarify the concept to People magazine, Jim Bob explained, “Courting involves getting to know each other in a group setting, with both families spending time together and the couple defining shared objectives to ascertain if they are destined for marriage. Unlike dating, a pair often spends time alone, which can lead to a more intimate relationship.

In August 2014, Ben requested Jessa’s hand in marriage and made his proposal. They sealed their union by holding hands for the first time on that day. Their wedding took place on November 1, 2014. When Jessa was expecting their first child, the show “19 Kids and Counting” was discontinued, and TLC aired a special focusing on sexual abuse, with Jill and Jessa as key participants, to enhance viewer understanding of the topic. Later that winter, they became the central figures in their own series, “Jill and Jessa: Counting On”. This show eventually expanded to include other Duggar siblings, becoming simply known as “Counting On”.

Jessa and Ben had their first son Spurgeon on November 5, 2015, followed by son Henry on February 6, 2017. Then they welcomed daughter Ivy Jane on May 28, 2019, and daughter Fern in July 2021. Unfortunately, Jessa experienced a miscarriage during the 2022 holiday season. However, she gave birth to her fifth child, George, in December 2023.

The sixth Duggar child, Jinger Vuolo, was born Dec. 21, 1993.

Jinger and Jeremy became acquainted while performing religious duties in Laredo, Texas, in 2016 and began dating around that time. They tied the knot on November 5, 2016, which was also their nephew Spurgeon’s birthday. Given that they were among a family of 19, it wasn’t long before people started speculating about a possible pregnancy.

In a year’s time, we likely envision ourselves remaining right here in Laredo, continuing our ministry, and simply aiming to serve the Lord in whatever capacity we can. This was shared by Jinger on a June 2017 episode of Counting On.

On July 19, 2018, their child named Felicity entered the world. It was in May of that same year that they disclosed Jinger’s second pregnancy, also sharing that she had experienced a miscarriage the preceding autumn. In November 2020, they blessedly welcomed Evangeline Jo into their family.

Jinger and Jeremy shared in October 2024 that their third child is due in March 2025.

Born on January 20th, 1995, Joseph Duggar found the perfect romantic moment to pop the question. He had only known Kendra, whom he met through church, for a short while after a few months of courtship. This special occasion was during his sister Joy-Anna’s wedding in May 2017.

As I took a deep breath before proposing, I wasn’t worried she would turn me down because she had already told me, “I’m keeping the seat warm for you!” That’s what Joseph shared with People magazine following his proposal. Kendra chimed in, “I’m overjoyed and completely surprised. There are so many things I want to say, but all I can think is shocked.

Since then, they have had the delight of adding four children to their family: Garrett, born in June 2018, Addison, who came into the world in November 2019, Brooklyn, born in February 2019, and Justus, their most recent addition, born in May 2023.

Eighth in line, Josiah Duggar was born on Aug. 28, 1996.

A couple, who had made their romantic relationship known just a few months prior, declared their engagement in March 2018. In an announcement, he shared that the location where he proposed to his girlfriend, Lauren, was the very same spot where her parents got engaged. He added that this property held significant family history, making it a particularly meaningful place for Lauren.

I, being an ecstatic admirer, couldn’t help but be moved by Michelle’s heartfelt words in her video posted on their blog, “We adore Lauren, she’s such a treasured gem.” Jessa and Ben added to the joy with their congratulations and a tantalizing treat shaped like x’s and o’s. “I suspect you two might want to save your first kiss for your wedding day, but if you swing by here, we’ve got something special waiting…” She playfully held up the sweet enticement.

In the summer of 2015, a relationship with Marjorie Jackson ended amicably and they chose to part ways. As Josiah shared with People magazine in March 2016, “We had a wonderful time together. We were simply trying to heed God’s guidance on everything. She didn’t believe it was the right moment for us then, so we took a break for a while.

On June 30, 2018, I was fortunate enough to exchange vows with the wonderful Lauren, making that day nothing short of flawless according to our own account, shared with People magazine. Our lives took a beautiful turn on Nov. 8, 2019, when we were blessed with our first child, Bella Milagro. This heartwarming name carries the essence of a miracle, as it was given after Lauren and I had experienced a miscarriage in October 2018. We expanded our family further with the addition of Daisy in 2022, followed by our precious son Ezra in May 2023.

Ninth sibling Joy-Anna Duggar was born Oct. 28, 1997.

She had been friends with Austin Forsyth for fifteen years before he began courting her. Following this, their relationship moved quickly – he proposed in February 2017, and they got married on May 26, 2017, at Cross Church in Rogers, Arkansas, which was the same church where Joseph proposed to Kendra.

Joy-Anna and Austin have had three children: Gideon Martin Forsyth, born on February 23, 2018, Evelyn Mae Forsyth, born on August 21, 2020, and Gunner James Forsyth, who arrived on May 17, 2023.

On the last day of December in 1998, Jim Bob and Michelle welcomed their second pair of twins, named Jed and Jeremiah Duggar, into the world.

In February 2017, it was announced that Jed had been interning at his father’s former workplace, the Arkansas State Capitol, working for the House of Representatives. At just 21 years old, he later ran as a candidate for State Representative in District 89, promising to prioritize Springdale’s conservative ideals. One year later, in April 2021, Jed married Katey Nakatsu. Their first child, Truett, was born in May 2022, and their daughter, Nora Kate, followed in June 2023.

Jed and Katey announced in July 2024 that they have twin girls on the way.

Jeremiah, who holds a flight instructor certification, is wedded to Hannah Wissmann, and they share two lovely daughters: Brynley, born in December 2022, and Brielle, who joined their family in February 2024.

No. 12 Jason Duggar was born on April 21, 2000.

In January 2017, according to the Daily Mail, Jim Bob aided Jase in purchasing a $33,000 fixer-upper located in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, approximately half an hour from the Duggar family’s main residence. Subsequently, he established his own construction business.

He went Instagram official with girlfriend Maddie Grace in May 2024 and the two married in October.

Charmed No. 13, James Duggar was born July 7, 2001.

I haven’t made my feelings known just yet, but let me tell you, this guy is a fantastic uncle to so many lovely nieces and nephews. You can see the love he has for them in every action, making me even more smitten by the day!

On his 19th birthday in 2019, mom Michelle wrote: “James is the fantastic uncle and all the younger lads around here admire him and aspire to be like him!” This young man, James, seems capable of tackling almost any task he sets his mind to. As a child, we’d often discover James tinkering with household appliances. He has always been the type to disassemble, understand their inner workings, and reassemble them—with a few creative tweaks!

This year, James put in a lot of effort to earn his Commercial Driver’s License, and now he’s mastered the art of maneuvering large trucks and heavy equipment! We’re excitedly looking forward to discovering what lies ahead for him, guided by the plans of God.

No. 14 Justin Duggar arrived on Nov. 15, 2002.

And from the department of growing up so fast…

In September 2020, Justin made their relationship with Claire Spivey known to the public. They became engaged in November of the same year and tied the knot on February 26, 2021.

In the company of his elder sister Jill, Jim Bob and Michelle’s fifteenth child, Jackson Duggar, made his arrival on May 23, 2004.

On his 16th birthday, Michelle, Jackson’s mom, commended his wit and mentioned how eager he was to obtain his driver’s license.

Johannah Duggar came into the world on October 11, 2005, which is why a reality show focusing on her family, titled “16 Kids and Beginning Their New Life Together“, was initially produced.

On her 15th birthday in 2020, Michelle wrote that this girl is full of life and enjoys meeting new people. She added that her younger siblings simply idolize her, seeing her as a symbol of perfection, and expressed her deep appreciation for being this child’s mother.

Jennifer Duggar arrived on Aug. 2, 2007, then the baby of the family.

Their TLC show that premiered Sept. 29, 2008, was christened 17 Kids and Counting.

Now, OMG, she’s a teenager.

Michelle penned that Jennifer is trustworthy, devoted, and always brings joy when her granddaughter turned thirteen. Adored by the nieces, nephews, who often cling to her because they don’t want her to set them down, she also cherishes animals and diligently attends to their daily needs! Notably, Jennifer recently played a significant role in nurturing seven baby bunnies.

Here on the right, the penultimate Duggar child was born Dec. 18, 2008.

2019 saw Jordyn-Grace being affectionately described by her mother as a sociable young lady who finds it hard to meet someone unfamiliar, accompanied by a chuckle. Her laughter, it was added, often brings warmth and cheer to our daily lives.

Oh my goodness, let me tell you all about little Josie Duggar! She was born on the 10th of December, 2009, and believe it or not, she arrived three whole months too early. Can you imagine? At birth, she weighed just a pound and six ounces!

On her baby’s eleventh birthday in 2020, Michelle expressed that Josie is like a whirlwind of activity. She hardly ever takes a break, from the moment she gets up in the morning till she goes to sleep at night.
