Wrapping up an outstanding second season, the climactic ending of Solo Leveling exceeded all anticipations, concluding the Jeju Island arc, introducing Jinwoo’s most impressive shadow soldier, and hinting at what’s to come in Season 3 (which has yet to be confirmed). Despite being relatively quiet, the finale of Season 2 of Solo Leveling delivered numerous memorable scenes from the manhwa, such as Jinwoo reaching Level 100 and the final scene depicting Jinwoo amidst his new shadow soldiers, a sight that has left fans extremely satisfied. However, it’s worth noting that the final episode omits one crucial scene from the original story, another significant “aura” moment for Jinwoo in the finale.
In the final episode of Season 2 of Solo Leveling, there’s no scene showing Jinwoo encountering Norma Selner, an American Awakened individual, also known as an Upgrader. This character possesses the unique ability to enhance a hunter’s skills beyond their usual limits, which is typically unattainable without a reawakening. However, when Norma tries to use her power on Jinwoo, she encounters a deep darkness within him that leaves her greatly unsettled because Jinwoo seems to have no limitations whatsoever. This discovery by Norma Selner highlights just how immense Jinwoo’s power is and suggests that he still has potential for further growth even after reaching Level 100.
Solo Leveling Season 2 Leaves Out Jinwoo’s Meeting With Norma Selner
In Chapter 108 of the comic book, after a tribute for the slain hunters from the Jeju Island raid, Jinwoo encounters Adam White, leader of the Federal Bureau of Hunters. He leads Jinwoo to meet Norma Selner as part of an effort to convince Jinwoo to relocate to the U.S. This encounter showcases some of Norma’s abilities and offers the possibility of her enhancing Jinwoo’s powers significantly if he accepts the offer.
Initially, it seems like things are running smoothly as I observe Norma gazing at Jinwoo. Yet, something unexpected happens when their eyes meet – a deep, ominous void stares back at her. Contrary to my expectations, the narrative never confirms that Jinwoo has no bounds to his powers, a detail left unexplored in this anime. Instead, the storyline takes an abrupt turn, skipping over this intriguing scene, and focuses on Jinwoo discussing starting a guild with Jinho and Song-yi while stuck in traffic, rather than contemplating Norma Selner’s baffling response.
Even though Jinwoo’s encounter with Norma Selner might appear insignificant in the grand scheme of things, it stands out as one of Jinwoo’s most stylish moments in this particular part of the story. The manhwa illustrates Jinwoo exiting calmly after Norma ominously states that there is no ceiling to his power. This scene lays the groundwork for the forthcoming narrative arcs, which will undoubtedly validate Norma’s prediction and emphasize that even at Level 100, Jinwoo is yet to reach his maximum potential. In essence, this scene underscores that Jinwoo’s capacity to continually grow stronger means he has no distinct limit to his powers and abilities, a trait that, as Norma highlights, differentiates him from the top-tier National Level Hunters.
From the start of Season 1, Jinwoo’s transformation has been a standout aspect of his character, primarily due to his captivating charm or presence. This trait became even more pronounced in Season 2 as Jinwoo not only became physically more appealing but also appeared more laid-back, self-assured, and slightly arrogant about his skills. Given the anime’s limited time to cover such extensive source material in the final episode, it seems that the scene featuring Norma Selner had to be omitted. Despite this, the anime missed a golden chance to emphasize Jinwoo’s abilities further and give him the recognition he deserved. For now, fans can only cross their fingers that this cut scene will reappear in Season 3 of Solo Leveling.
