Joan release date confirmed for Sophie Turner’s jewel thief drama

As a film enthusiast with a penchant for intriguing narratives and captivating performances, I am thrilled to my bones about the upcoming ITV series “Joan.” Having binge-watched Sophie Turner’s stellar portrayal of Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones and marveled at her versatile roles in X-Men, Do Revenge, and The Staircase, I can hardly contain my excitement for this six-part drama.

Though the thrilling teaser trailer for Joan has been keeping our anticipation high, those eagerly awaiting the premiere of the ITV series will be pleasantly surprised.

Absolutely, you’re correct! The anticipation is building as we’re just a few weeks away from the premiere of Sophie Turner’s drama. It’ll be airing on both ITV and ITVX on the 29th of September, starting at 9pm sharp. Can’t wait to see it!

The second installment is scheduled to play the very next day, at the same time, on Tuesday, 1st October, on ITV1.

The upcoming series showcases Turner portraying infamous jewel thief Joan Hannington during the 1980s in London, delving into the events that shaped her criminal lifestyle, while also highlighting her complex roles as a parent and partner.

Absolutely, Turner garnered significant recognition for portraying Sansa Stark on HBO’s Game of Thrones, in addition to featuring in the X-Men movie franchise, Do Revenge, and The Staircase.

However, the story “Joan” brings Turner back as a prominent character once more, promising to deliver a captivating six-part series that explores the enigma surrounding the true identity of this historical figure.

Besides Turner serving as the lead in the series, we’ll see performances by Frank Dillane (Renegade Nell), Kirsty J Curtis (Harlots), Gershwyn Eustache Jnr (A Spy Among Friends), and Laura Aikman (Archie) as well.

The production of this show is spearheaded by Anna Symon (Essex Serpent), who has taken on both creation and scriptwriting roles. Richard Laxton, known for Rain Dogs and The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe, sits in the director’s seat, while Ruth Kenley-Letts from Strike takes on the producer’s role.

In my perspective as a movie enthusiast, here’s how I’d rephrase the synopsis: “Finding myself at a crossroads after Gary’s unexpected disappearance, I grasp the opportunity to embark on a fresh chapter of life with my six-year-old daughter, Kelly. This is the story we’ll be following.

Exploring further into the shadowy criminal realm, Joan encounters Boisie, a mysterious antique merchant whose charm leads her to experience unprecedented perils and intensity.

Joan’s adventure is a thrilling ride filled with keen intuition, captivating allure, and the ability to mimic others, making it a perilous yet transformative tale of endurance and metamorphosis.

For each robbery and each stolen diamond, her ultimate goal remains the same – to establish a safe and secure future for her child.

Joan will premiere on ITV and ITVX on Sunday 29th September at 9pm.
