Joe Alwyn & Amelia Dimoldenberg Put Their Chemistry on Display

As a devoted fan of Taylor Swift, I find myself completely captivated by the intricate tapestry of her love stories woven into her music. The tale of her relationship with Joe Alwyn is no exception, and it’s fascinating to delve into their collaborative efforts in creating some of her most heartfelt songs.

Sparks may be flying for Joe Alwyn.

In a playful interview at the GQ Men of the Year awards in London, a 33-year-old individual charmed both the host, Amelia Dimoldenberg, who is famous for her flirtatious celebrity chats, and the audience with his engaging personality.

As Joe neared Amelia in the November 27 TikTok, she started crooning a greeting, “Hello, Joe,” which led her to wonder unexpectedly why she was singing.

However, the British individual, who parted ways with Taylor Swift in 2023 after six years together, swiftly reassured her by stating, “I enjoyed it.

Later on, Amelia questioned the actor from ‘Kinds of Kindness’ about his social lifestyle, inquiring whether he was more inclined towards parties or not, to which he delivered a rather direct answer.

“Well, you hope a party person,” he quipped before later adding, “you need balance.”

Meanwhile, Amelia wasn’t just pondering if Joe was the highlight of the party; she also delved into some scholarly discussions. When inquired about his preferred London architecture, Joe—who is set to star in the upcoming film “The Brutalist“, a story revolving around an English architect—picked the Barbican, a vibrant arts center nestled in the city’s core.

“Oh good, I knew you’d say that,” Amelia added cheekily. “Classic.”

In response to her comment about preferring the same building, Joe acknowledged they were “spiritual twins” or “two of a kind.

It’s uncertain if their chat on the red carpet will lead to a real dinner date at a chicken restaurant, but since Joe seems to be single after his split with Taylor, it could be possible.

The actor who is Taylor’s favorite, and appears to have influenced some of her breakup songs on her 2024 album “The Tortured Poets Department,” has mentioned that he generally prefers to keep his romantic affairs private, particularly in relation to his relationship with the singer known for “Karma.

Back in June, I shared with The Sunday Times a sentiment we’d both agreed upon: to maintain the intimate aspects of our bond as private matters. We never intended to capitalize on these parts of our relationship, and I don’t feel the need to alter that approach today.

He expressed his hope that everyone could relate to and grasp the challenges that arise from ending a deeply loving, long-term commitment of more than six years. He went on to say, “Given the current attention and speculation surrounding my past relationship, it’s understandable why I wouldn’t be ready to revisit those topics at this moment.

Read on to see all of Taylor’s songs that are inspired by Joe.

In their first musical collaboration, Taylor Swift teamed up with her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, who went by the pseudonym William Bowery in the credits of the 2020 album “Folklore”. However, it was later revealed during her Disney+ concert film, “Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions”, that William and Joe were actually the same person. The ballad they created together with Bon Iver is featured as a duet on the album.

In a heartfelt confession, I disclosed that Joe was the one who penned the enchanting piano melody and poignant lyrics, “I can see you standing, honey/With his arms around your body/Laughing but the joke’s not funny at all.” I added that this acclaimed actor from The Favourite was a jovial prankster who improvised and invented as he went along, but our collaboration might never have come to pass if it weren’t for the unexpected pause in productions due to COVID-19.

As I pondered, I found myself saying, “Hey, this might feel strange, and we might not enjoy it, given our current quarantine circumstances with limited activities. Yet, could we give it a shot and explore the possibility of composing a song together?

The result of their professional collaboration? Winning Album of the Year at the 2021 Grammys.

Taylor couldn’t help but be thrilled about the song ‘Exile.’ All she needs to do is think of some lyrics and collaborate with him on a deeply emotional, tear-jerking narrative for the composition.

In an interview with Zane Lowe at Apple Music, Taylor revealed that for the title track of her ninth studio album, she and Joe collaborated much like they did on “Exile.” Specifically, Joe developed the melody while Taylor penned the lyrics, and once again Bon Iver provided the male vocal.

During an interview with Rolling Stone, co-producer Aaron Dessner emphasized that it was crucial for Joe to perform the piano portion in “Evermore”, since technical difficulties prevented him from doing so in “Exile”.

On this occasion, Aaron suggested, “It seems fitting and significant for the narrative.

In the hours preceding Taylor’s commencement of The Eras tour in Glendale, Ariz., on March 17th, the Grammy-winning artist surprised her audience by debuting four fresh tracks, among them “All of the Girls You Loved Before.” Initially planned for her 2019 album Lover, speculations arose among fans that this tune was inspired by Joe.

Taylor starts her pre-chorus section singing, “Your path and mine are running parallel, stars perfectly aligned and intertwined.” This lyric brings to mind another song she penned about Joe on her album Midnights, titled “Mastermind”, where she sings, “One time upon a star-studded night, the planets and our fates / Converged in alignment, you and I found ourselves together in the same space.

Towards the end of the song, Taylor softly serenades, “The way you affectionately refer to me as ‘baby’, treat me with gentleness, like a lady.” This echoed memories of her hit from reputation, “King of My Heart”, which is also about Joe. In this song, she sings, “We’ve known each other for only a few weeks now, and you’re already attempting to endearingly call me ‘baby’, much like trying on new clothes.

In the series of stories centered around a high school love triangle in Taylor’s album “Folklore,” she mentioned that “Betty” was inspired by overhearing Joe singing the completely developed chorus of a song from another room.

She went on, expressing that it appeared to be an act of contrition. Furthermore, since she has penned numerous songs inspired by a woman’s yearning for a male apology, they decided to change the perspective and write from a teenage boy’s standpoint, explaining his remorse after losing the love of his life due to his folly.

Although Joe didn’t contribute directly to the creation of Midnights‘ first track, it’s Zoë Kravitz who is listed as a co-writer. The motivation behind this song, however, stems from Taylor’s wish to shield their relationship from public scrutiny.

She clarified on Instagram: “If people discover that you’re in love with someone, they’ll certainly have opinions about it.” For six years, my relationship has faced odd speculations and gossip from tabloids. We usually brush off these rumors. This song is essentially about the process of disregarding such gossip to safeguard the genuine aspects of our love.

The title comes from a phrase commonly used in the 1950s that Taylor first heard while watching Mad Men, sharing that it meant an “all-encompassing love glow.”

Contrary to rumors suggesting that the song “Evermore” by the pair was a reflection of their romantic struggles, Taylor swiftly dismissed such conjecture, stating it did not pertain to their relationship.

She shared with Zane Lowe that while it was unexpected when we began collaborating, in a sense, it wasn’t. This is because we have always had a strong connection through music, sharing similar musical preferences. He’s the one who often introduces me to new artists, and their songs end up becoming my favorites.

Taylor went on saying, “Joe and I have a deep affection for melancholic tunes, and we’ve always connected through music. As a result, we tend to compose the most poignant ones. I guess you could say we’re drawn to sad songs.

Apart from the title song and “Champagne Problems”, Joe additionally collaborated on the track “Coney Island”, a brooding duet with Matt Berninger of The National, that’s found on the album Evermore.

According to Taylor, Paul McCartney interviewed her and mentioned that the ballad from her album ‘Folklore’ was particularly sensitive as it stemmed from a stronger connection with Joe, making her feel more grounded in her personal life.

She stated that, by getting to know him and being in this current relationship, she’s certainly made choices that have made her life feel more authentic and less like a script for gossip columns.

In “Midnights,” Joe contributed to writing just one track, and that’s a tender love ballad. The song begins with a stone collected from a beach in Wicklow, which is an Irish county where the actor filmed the Hulu series titled “Conversations With Friends.

I, Taylor, penned the heartfelt ballad “You’re Losing Me” about a fading relationship on December 5, 2021, as shared by my collaborator Jack Antonoff. This “very special track from the midnights sessions” was both written and recorded at home, following closely on the heels of the release of Red (Taylor’s Version) and the “All Too Well” short film.

Taylor held off releasing the track for more than a year, and eventually unveiled it as an added number in the “Midnights” collection, which she debuted in May 2023 – approximately a month after news surfaced of her separation from Joe. This timing fueled fan theories that the song could be about their breakup.

She croons, “I can’t detect a heartbeat / My heart seems irrevocably stilled / For you / Because our bond is slipping away,” expressing the sentiment that the length of their sorrowful melody might have taken them beyond the point of return. “All my best versions of myself, all my boundless compassion, I’ve given to you.

The lyrics also hint at a rejected marriage proposal: “And I wouldn’t marry me either / A pathological people pleaser / Who only wanted you to see her.”
