This Image Comics series, now getting a well-deserved collection thanks to Zoop, is an intriguing blend of sci-fi adventure, survival story, and political allegory that will leave you both entertained and thoughtful.

Over a decade since its initial release, Joe Harris and Martin Morazzo unveiled the Image Comics series Great Pacific. This intriguing narrative revolves around a privileged youth with an unusual mission: to improve the world in the most unconventional manner. Remarkably, this series is now receiving a comprehensive collection, courtesy of Zoop. According to Harris, Great Pacific offers a blend of science fiction, adventure, and survival, focusing on a character who has been blessed with abundance but aspires to alter the world in ways that wealth cannot directly purchase. However, it’s worth noting that this ambitious individual is none other than Chas Worthington, a spoiled rich kid who has stolen vast amounts of money from his own company and finds himself pursued by many while he blends anonymously into, essentially, his own self-contained nation.

The series is brimming with political symbolism, dark humor, and well-developed characters along with top-notch dialogue, which made Chris Carter’s comic run on The X-Files a cherished part of the franchise for many years. Furthermore, this crowdfunding campaign isn’t merely about gathering funds; if we’re fortunate enough to reach our stretch goal, it will result in fresh content for the Great Pacific series after a long hiatus.

“Harris pointed out that the garbage patch still remains unchanged, which has led to increased media coverage about the problems associated with it. Every day, stories emerge about microplastics being discovered in places like the Arctic and even inside babies. Therefore, the issue seems to be more prominent now than ever. The character in our story, who predates the modern era of celebrity, entrepreneurship, and wealth accumulation, mirrors individuals such as Elon Musk today. These figures, who believe they have the answers for the world, are becoming increasingly visible and often exhibit conflicting ideologies like extreme Libertarianism. So many themes in our story resonate with current events.”
