16 years following the initial airing of “The Ring”, the Season 13 premiere episode of South Park, Joe Jonas is discussing his thoughts on how Trey Parker and Matt Stone depicted his band, The Jonas Brothers. In the 2009 South Park episode, not only was Joe Jonas, but also his brothers Nick and Kevin were subjects of the show’s parody.
The show ‘The Ring’ playfully mocked the squeaky-clean image of the Jonas Brothers, which included their use of purity rings. Notably, it depicted an evil version of Mickey Mouse who aimed to capitalize on the Jonas Brothers’ popularity as teen heartthrobs by promoting inappropriate content to their young audience. In this episode, Mickey Mouse clashed with the JoBros over their reluctance to continue wearing purity rings.
Jonas: ‘I Thought It Was Hilarious’
The show aired back in 2009, during the peak of the Jonas Brothers’ fame as a Disney Channel boy band. Now, Joe Jonas is scheduled to appear on a fresh episode of , where he clarifies his feelings about “The Ring.
“Back then, our skin wasn‘t as tough,” the middle Jonas brother confessed. “I seemed to be the only one who appreciated it. To me, it was just amusing because I’d seen a show named , and I thought, ‘This is so entertaining. They’re poking fun at everyone!'”
Jonas remarked, ‘Getting made fun of in a popular cartoon series could actually be a good thing. I think it means they care about us, find it amusing, and are really spot-on.’ He praised the creators of South Park for their satire.

He commented, “I believe they were targeting more so the concept of what it represents.” Regarding the purity ring plot, he added, “To be beaten up by Mickey Mouse? That’s an honor! It’s one of my favorite episodes, I must say.” Now looking back, they find humor in it. He concluded, “It’s something we’re proud of. Absolutely, it’s a memorable moment for me.
