Joe Keery Ditches His Alter Ego for New Djo Album After TikTok Fame

I, Joe Keery, have shared my journey of leaving my ‘stage persona’ behind during live performances.

In his spare time, this well-known actor, recognized by many as Steve Harrington from the popular Netflix show, has been secretly pursuing a music career.

Under a semi-concealed identity, Keery transformed into ‘Djo’ (identical to ‘Joe’) and donned sunglasses and an orangish, shoulder-length, chopped wig while performing at Lollapalooza in the U.S.

In an interview with NME, Keery confessed that one reason for his approach was to establish a degree of anonymity through a sort of semi-fictional persona. However, once his music became popular on TikTok, this perspective shifted significantly for him.

Keerymakes ready to unveil his third album, titled “The Crux,” on the 4th of April, opting for no more concealment – though few had been tricked by the mask in the first place.

As Keery gears up for his departure from Stranger Things following over a decade in the role, the release of the new album marks an exceptionally rare and memorable experience for him.

“He said that although your presence in Stranger Things is undeniable, you aim to have a personal life separate from the series as well.

Djo’s new album The Crux is released on 4th April – and is available to pre-order now.
