On multiple instances, the actor playing Spider-Man, Tom Holland, has accidentally spilled Marvel’s secrets ahead of schedule, and now, it seems that Heartstopper star Joe Locke could potentially follow in his footsteps. Last year, Locke made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as the young Billy Maximoff, also known as Wiccan, the reborn son of the Scarlet Witch, in Agatha All Along. In a recent interview, he shared more details about this role but admitted that, like seasoned MCU actor Tom Holland, he may struggle to keep secrets.
Joe Locke admitted openly to The Playlist in a recent conversation that he struggles with keeping secrets. He confided in his friends and family about the character he was portraying and even revealed some major plot twists to certain friends. Actors are usually advised to maintain secrecy regarding their Marvel Cinematic Universe characters until they debut, but Joe couldn’t contain his excitement and felt compelled to share. This discretion is crucial for Marvel Studios as it helps maintain the secrecy that has become a significant aspect of the franchise’s ongoing success.
Locke posited that Marvel might not seem as intimidating as they appear when it comes to secrecy, alluding to humorous internet discussions about Marvel catching actors who disclose MCU information before the studio is prepared. Notably, Tom Holland, who debuted as Peter Parker in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, and Mark Ruffalo, famously known for portraying Bruce Banner’s Hulk, have been the main leak sources within the MCU. Before Agatha All Along, Locke didn’t share any significant secrets, so it remains to be seen if his own confession will hold up in reality.
Joe Locke managed to skillfully conceal his character’s true identity as Billy Maximoff in the 2024 series, Agatha All Along. However, it might be that he won’t maintain this secret-keeping habit for long, given his future appearances in the MCU are yet unconfirmed, with speculations pointing towards 2026’s Vision Quest series. If this holds true, Vision Quest could see a reunion of Billy Maximoff with his brother Tommy (Speed) and their father, Vision, portrayed by Paul Bettany. This seems plausible as Vision Quest is anticipated to be the next WandaVision spinoff on Disney+.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), there’s a strong possibility for actor Joe Locke, who plays Billy Maximoff’s Wiccan, to have an exceptionally promising future. This is particularly true if the anticipated Young Avengers team-up occurs before the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga. At present, Billy is accompanied by the spirit of Agatha Harkness (portrayed by Kathryn Hahn), serving as his mentor. There’s a likelihood they might reappear in “Vision Quest” or another forthcoming MCU production. Fingers crossed that Joe Locke manages to keep any spoilers under wraps until his next role, to avoid prematurely revealing any significant plot twists.
