This iconic brand was created in 1953 by auto enthusiast Jack Odell as a solution for his daughter, who could only bring a toy to school if it fit into a matchbox. When her classmates also wanted ‘matchbox cars’, a legendary brand was born. For over 70 years, the high level of authenticity in Matchbox die-cast cars has been a driving force behind the brand and its fanbase. The movie is being produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger, along with Robbie Brenner for Mattel Films.
