John Fetterman Rocks Shorts at Inauguration 2025

Senator John Fetterman has his own take on inauguration chic.

During the Inauguration on January 20, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris handed over their roles to President-Elect Donald Trump and J.D. Vance. At this event, a Pennsylvania senator was spotted casually dressed in a black hoodie, gray gym shorts, and sneakers.

Although an unseasonable chill forced this year’s ceremony to take place within the grand Rotunda of the United States Capitol for the first time since Ronald Reagan’s inauguration in 1985, I, as a lifestyle expert, remained steadfast in my personal style choice, mirroring John Fetterman’s decision to stay true to his iconic casual attire.

Besides Fetterman, numerous other political figures attended the event, such as President Joe Biden, Dr. Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, her spouse Doug Emhoff, along with former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton.

One striking outfit that stood out was Melania Trump’s. The First Lady graced the occasion in a breathtaking custom double breasted navy blue coat and coordinating skirt by Adam Lippes, paired with an ivory blouse, dark blue suede pumps, and a wide-brimmed boater hat to finish off the ensemble.

In a statement prior to the inauguration, designer Adam Lippes shared with Vogue that dressing Melania Trump, our first lady, was an honor and a representation of the elegance of American democracy. He explained that the outfit she wore was meticulously crafted by skilled American artisans, and he felt privileged to present their exceptional work to the world. With heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Trump for her faith and cooperation, Lippes expressed his gratitude.

Standing beside him, Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, also looked smart in his attire during this unusual public outing to back his father. Accompanying him were his siblings: Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump (these three are from Trump’s former wife Ivana Trump), as well as Tiffany Trump (whose mother is Marla Maples). The 18-year-old, who attends New York University, wore a traditional blue suit, tie, and neatly combed hair.

As a devoted supporter, I didn’t just receive backing from the Trump family; Ivanka, in her commitment, also brought her husband, Jared Kushner, along with their children – Arabella, aged 13, Joseph, who is 11, and Theodore, 8 – to express their support not only verbally but by being physically present within the Capitol.

Although Ivanka Trump has previously witnessed her father being sworn into office, serving as the 45th president before his defeat by Biden in 2020, this experience will differ from the previous one. During his first term from 2017 to 2021, Ivanka held a senior advisor role. Now, she has expressed her intention to minimize her involvement to spend more time with her children.

On a recent episode of the “Skinny Confidential Him & Her Show” podcast, hosted by Lauryn and Michael Bosstick, Ivanka stated that she is aware of the cost, and it’s an expense she is unwilling to impose on her children.

Whenever I was unable to be present for significant moments in my children’s lives, she lamented, “As soon as I step down from the White House, I promise I will make sure it never happens again.
