John Mulaney Speaks on “Violent” Threats to Olivia Munn & Their Kids

John Mulaney is speaking out in defense of his wife Olivia Munn.

Following a former Newsroom cast member’s disclosure that she doesn’t allow her two children, Malcolm (aged 3) and Méi (8 months), to watch YouTuber Ms. Rachel’s child-oriented content, the comedian admitted that this statement sparked some unforeseen criticism.

In an Instagram Story posted on June 11th, I, as a fervent admirer, shared some harmless thoughts with my beloved Olivia Munn about our favorite kids’ shows. Unimaginably, this innocent conversation has been twisted and misconstrued, giving rise to the false impression that I am indifferent towards the tragic loss of lives among children in Gaza.

42-year-old individual pointed out that Olivia, aged 44, was starting to receive direct messages containing “aggressive and menacing remarks” aimed at her and her kids.

As a lifestyle guide, I’d like to express that when individuals veer off course in a discussion, it becomes not only off-topic but potentially harmful. Instead of fostering meaningful dialogue, they escalate the situation unnecessarily. This conduct, while it may seem passionate or bold, is hardly constructive or conducive to productive conversation. It’s important to remember that this isn’t activism; it’s misguided and counterproductive behavior.

A few days ago, Olivia shared the reason behind the absence of Ms. Rachel Accurso from her home.

In an interview with People on June 8, she expressed that children adore [Ms. Rachel], but added a caveat: if I can’t monitor it, I won’t invest my entire life in becoming overwhelmed. Children’s shows tend to make me feel this way. (It is uncertain why the publication has since removed the interview.)

I’d rather you focus on my efforts advocating for the welfare of children in Gaza.

The YouTube personality clarified that her comment wasn’t intended for Olivia. She expressed indifference towards Olivia’s choice not to watch the program, but sent “warmest wishes” to Olivia and her entire family.

Later on, Olivia expressed her thoughts by saying that she hadn’t expected her remark to create such a wave of impact.

In a post on Instagram Stories on June 10th, she expressed that her remarks were not intended to lessen the happiness, solace, or influence she brings to countless families. She doesn’t want any misinterpretation leading to a single moment causing joy to be lost for anyone.
