John Wick 5 Filming Rumors Debunked

John Wick 5 Filming Rumors Debunked

As a seasoned gamer and action movie enthusiast with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the news about John Wick‘s future has left me both excited and puzzled. The thrill of Keanu Reeves’ relentless performance as the Baba Yaga never fails to leave me on the edge of my seat, and the prospect of more adventures in this universe is truly tantalizing. However, hearing that John Wick: Chapter 5 might not start filming until 2026 has left a bit of a void in my action-packed calendar.

The John Wick series isn’t wrapping up just yet. Despite the title character seemingly meeting his end in John Wick: Chapter 4, two more direct sequels and a spinoff titled Ballerina starring Ana de Armas are currently in development. There were earlier rumors hinting at a fifth film in the main storyline, but these have since been refuted by a reliable source from Hollywood.

Based on Collider’s report, it appears that John Wick: Chapter 5 won’t start production next year due to director Chad Stahelski being fully occupied with his Highlander reboot featuring Henry Cavill. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that a fifth installment in the John Wick series will never come to fruition; it simply means we may have to wait until at least 2026 for it.

John Wick’s universe is now overseen by Stahelski as he takes on a new role at Lionsgate, secured through a fresh first-look agreement.

Keanu Reeves expressed his delight in taking on a supervisory position for the John Wick universe and its future development, as stated in January through Variety. John Wick holds a special place in his heart, and he’s excited to continue guiding it. He’s also thrilled to kick off another franchise with Highlander, a world brimming with captivating stories waiting to be told.

As a devoted fan, I’d put it like this: I’ll be taking on the exciting task of shaping a complete multiplatform content blueprint for both franchises, steering their creative direction, franchise strategy, and long-term growth. My goal is to maintain the superior quality, distinctive tone, and vision that these iconic properties are known for, ensuring consistency throughout.

You can currently stream the initial season of “The Continental” on Peacock, while the movie “Ballerina” will be in theaters starting June 6, 2025. “John Wick: Chapter 4” is now available for purchase at all retailers selling movies, and the first three installments of the series are streaming on Tubi.
