Stealthily making its way into theaters, fans eagerly awaiting the John Wick spinoff now have even more cause for celebration upon its premiere. In addition to the film’s big-screen debut, enthusiasts of John Wick can already purchase physical copies of the movie ahead of its release.
You can reserve two different editions of the 4K Blu-ray version of Ballerina from various retailers, as this action-packed movie hits the big screen for the first time. One is offered on Amazon at a price of $34.99, showcasing vibrant cover art of the main character, Eve Macarro, set against a club scene in the film. The alternative version is available from Walmart, which includes a Steelbook cover design with a slipcase, depicting Eve preparing for battle alongside other ballerinas. This Walmart edition can be pre-ordered at $42.99. At this point, neither release date nor bonus features have been announced for either Blu-ray.
The John Wick series often releases Steelbook Blu-rays alongside its theater premieres, providing chances to watch these films at home if you missed them in cinemas or for repeat viewings later on. It’s been mentioned that the prices of Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K versions of Ballerina might decrease as it continues its run in theaters.
Ballerina Moves Gracefully to Solid Early Returns
In Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Ballerina discovers Eve engaged in training within the Ruska Roma organization, disguised as a ballet school. As depicted in Chapter 3, Eve is being groomed as an assassin on a mission to track down those who murdered her father. At some point, Eve encounters Wick, who provides valuable insights about the Ruska Roma. In this film, the Chancellor (played by Gabriel Byrne) emerges as a formidable adversary, attempting to obstruct Eve’s path of vengeance by rallying a town against her.
The ballet movie has been praised as a fitting spinoff of the John Wick franchise, earning a commendable 77% critical rating and a 93% score from Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes. Its audience score positions it alongside Chapter 4 in popularity. Familiar faces from the franchise reappear, including Anjelica Huston as the Director, Ian McShane as Winston Scott, and Lance Reddick, who gives his final screen performance as Charon in this film. Moreover, a new character, played by Shamier Anderson, makes his debut in the movie series as the enigmatic Daniel Pine.
Under Len Wiseman’s direction, the film had a successful debut during its first weekend. This movie is part of several upcoming John Wick sequels being produced by Lionsgate. Among them is Donnie Yen‘s spinoff focusing on his character from Chapter 4, which is currently in development. Additionally, Lionsgate has confirmed that a new installment, featuring Keanu Reeves reprising his role as the main assassin, is underway.
Ballerina is now showing in theaters across North America.
