This year, it’s been a decade since the release of the popular action movie “John Wick,” and to celebrate, the film is making a special return to cinemas for two nights only. Starring Keanu Reeves and spawning a franchise, this iconic film will be back in theaters on November 3rd and November 6th for special screenings. The story told in “John Wick” revolves around the character played by Keanu Reeves, a former assassin seeking revenge when his car gets stolen and his beloved pet is killed. This incident rekindles the return of the deadliest and most feared hitman, known as John Wick. The film solidified Reeves’ status as an action star and marked the start of a successful franchise consisting of four films and a television series based on the “John Wick” universe. Attendees of Fathom screenings will get an exclusive look at the upcoming “Ballerina” spin-off, which delves deeper into the world of John Wick through the eyes of Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas), a new character beginning her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma.
Ballerina Heads to Theaters in 2025
For a brief period, John Wick is returning to cinemas to celebrate its anniversary, but fans can anticipate another action-packed film called Ballerina in the meantime. This movie will debut on June 6, 2025, and follows the story of Eve Macarro, portrayed by Ana de Armas, a ballet dancer turned assassin who seeks vengeance for her family’s murder. Alongside de Armas, Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, and Lance Reddick in his final on-screen role are part of the star-studded cast. Notably, John Wick stars Ian McShane and Reeves will reappear in their respective roles for this film, which is helmed by director Len Wiseman.
Apart from the upcoming “Ballerina” movie, another “John Wick” spin-off is being developed. This year, it was made official that a film focusing on Donnie Yen’s character, Caine, is also under production.
Since Donnie Yen made his debut in John Wick: Chapter 4, he has spellbound viewers and forged a genuine, touching bond that’s left a lasting impression, prompting fans to clamor for more. As stated earlier by Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, the John Wick universe – crafted by Chad, Basil, Erica, and Keanu – boasts a rich array of captivating characters breathed life into by exceptional talents. We’re thrilled to have one of the global cinema giants on board to further explore this adventure.
Yen explained that these films strike a deep chord in people because Chad, Basil, and Erica, like myself, strive to craft action sequences, fights, and stunts that are not just exciting, original, and aesthetically pleasing, but also reveal character, plot, and emotion. Yen is thrilled to reprise the role of Caine, a character with a troubled history.
