JoJo Siwa Clarifies Her Sexuality Amid Chris Hughes Relationship

JoJo Siwa is happy to know herself better.

Initially, the singer known as “Karma” publicly identified herself as a lesbian after her 2021 coming-out. However, through her recent relationship with Chris Hughes, a contestant on Big Brother UK, she has found that her sexual orientation falls under a different category within the LGBTQIA+ spectrum.

JoJo shared with TopMob News’ Francesca Amiker that the phrase which captivates them most currently is “queer.” JoJo explained, “I view queer as an all-encompassing term that says, ‘I am who I am.’ I believe the most wonderful aspect of the LGBTQIA community lies in the fact that love knows no boundaries; it’s given and received equally.

She mentioned, “There are numerous beautiful, unique sexual orientations. The spectrum of sexuality and queerness is like a vibrant rainbow with various shades, and it also includes shades on this rainbow that we haven’t discovered yet.

For any skeptics reading this, JoJo, who parted ways with Australian influencer Kath Ebbs following the ‘Big Brother UK’ afterparty in April, maintains the same sentiments as she did when she came out at 17: She has no need to justify her actions.

The young woman expressed that she feels perfectly suited for herself, and incredibly content with her happiness. She described feeling completely relaxed and comfortable with her current situation, and radiating genuine joy and tranquility. She emphasized that love finds us, we can’t control it.

Indeed, it was her deep affection for Chris that enabled her to grasp the idea that “everyone has their own unique way of being.

17-year-old JoJo Siwa found August 1, 2020, to be a wonderful day for unveiling the identity of her boyfriend. This special someone outshone her infatuations with Patrick Dempsey from Grey’s Anatomy and Zac Efron.

However, despite her strong bond with housemate Chris Hughes, Siwa maintained that this wasn’t a situation that could be easily replaced for everyone.

During the filming process, Siwa shared on ITV’s This Morning, she found herself isolated from her familiar circle, detached from external judgments, and disconnected from everything around her. In this solitude, she sat with herself and recognized aspects of her life that she should not have tolerated, which she later understood were unacceptable.

Despite not winning the top spot during her stay on Celebrity Big Brother UK in the year 2025, Siwa found a more valuable reward from her experience on the show – a new companion in her fellow contestant Chris Hughes.

In my perspective, when it comes to defining my sexuality, I find that the term “queer” resonates deeply with me, as it seems to encapsulate who I truly am. However, I’m more about loving people for their essence rather than being confined by labels.
