As a die-hard JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure fan who has been following the series since its early days, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming prequel for Golden Wind focusing on Pesci and Prosciutto! It’s always refreshing to see the perspectives of villains in the world of Joestars, especially when it comes to Passione members.

The long-running series ‘JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’ has kept its appeal by regularly featuring new Joestar characters in each successive plotline, starting from the original conflict between Jonathan Joestar and Dio Brando. Although Hirohiko Araki’s manga continues to explore Jodio and Dragona in The JOJOLands, this doesn’t prevent the popular anime franchise from revisiting the past. This year’s ‘JoJo Winter Magazine’ is doing just that by offering a prequel to ‘Golden Wind,’ focusing on characters other than Dio’s son for a change.

Over the past few years, the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series has seized chances to share standalone tales centered around characters from its rich history. These stories come in various forms such as brief manga and special episodes. Notable figures from different story arcs, including Lisa Lisa (from Battle Tendency), Iggy (Stardust Crusaders), and Jolyne (Stone Ocean), have been the focus of these narratives. This year’s JoJo Winter Magazine will present a unique perspective with a prequel to Golden Wind focusing on the villains, specifically Pesci and Prosciutto. The Japanese edition of the Winter 2024 JoJo Magazine is scheduled to release on December 18th next month. However, there’s no confirmation yet about its availability in North America. Historically, many JoJo publications haven’t made it to the Western world promptly. Yet, the enduring popularity of the franchise frequently leads to fresh opportunities for the Joestars. Fortunately, anime enthusiasts worldwide can still catch a sneak peek of the upcoming short.

As a gamer, I’d say if you’re looking for a recap on Pesci and Prosciutto from Passione, these guys were initially gunning for Diavolo to seize control of their gang. Pesci’s Stand, Beach Boy, isn’t your average fishing gear – it can whip up an extraordinary line to snag the heaviest catch. In Golden Wind, Pesci uses this supernatural line to reel in some serious game alongside Bruno and crew. On the other hand, Prosciutto, Pesci’s partner in crime throughout Golden Wind, has a Stand called “The Grateful Dead.” This one comes in handy, as it can speed up aging in a designated area. With Prosciutto’s ability to draw targets into that area with his fishing line, they make quite the formidable combo!

In the JOJO magazine’s Winter 2024 issue, Proschoot and Pesshi from the fifth part “Assassination Team” will make their appearance!

A Joestar Future

At present, Hirohiko Araki is busy writing new installments for “JoJolands”, the most recent addition to his extended Stand series. Although this newest chapter seems to lack significant ties to Golden Wind, it features the return of a prominent character who has been seen in anime before. Rohan Kishibe, the manga artist introduced in Diamond Is Unbreakable, is playing a crucial role in the current storyline.

Regarding the anime adaptation of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, it’s been two years since Stone Ocean concluded on Netflix and we haven’t heard any updates about a return. However, speculation points towards Steel Ball Run as the next installment in the series, following the story that unfolds post Jolyne’s tenure. Known for being one of the strongest entries in the franchise, fans are eagerly waiting to witness Steel Ball Run on television screens.
