Joker Director Pays Tribute to Deadpool & Wolverine After New Box Office Record

As a longtime fan of both DC and Marvel, I must say that the box office success of Deadpool & Wolverine has left me utterly amazed! It’s simply phenomenal to witness the R-rated genre shattering records previously held by Joker, another masterpiece that had me on the edge of my seat. The clash between these two titans is an exciting turn of events in the superhero movie landscape.

The duo of Deadpool and Wolverine has become the box office champion among R-rated movies, surpassing the record set by Joker, a film starring Joaquin Phoenix that is soon to have a sequel, with Todd Phillips, the director of Joker, expressing his congratulations to the Marvel production on its triumph. Over the weekend, Phillips posted a series of Deadpool-themed images on his Instagram account, commending Ryan Reynolds and his team on their success with the third installment.

Phillips praised “@vancityreynolds” and “@slevydirect” on Instagram for their outstanding movie, saying it’s an absolute juggernaut. He expected it to be great, but it exceeded his expectations. Kudos to all those who worked on the film!

From Saturday, the joint film “Deadpool & Wolverine” has amassed an astounding $1.142 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time at the box office. The Todd Phillips’ “Joker” concluded its successful box office journey with a global total of $1.047 billion. Completing the top five R-rated earners are “Oppenheimer” ($976 million), “Deadpool 2” ($785 million), and the original “Deadpool” ($782 million). Notably, “Joker” was nominated for 11 Oscars following its release, with Joaquin Phoenix winning Best Actor for his performance, and receiving an award for Best Original Score.

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled about “Joker: Folie à Deux” – the sequel that brings back Joaquin Phoenix as the enigmatic Joker, and introduces Lady Gaga as our beloved Harley Quinn!

Francine Maisler, the casting director, previously praised Gaga’s performance, saying, “She’s incredibly talented in this role. She’ll leave you speechless. I didn’t initially suggest Lady Gaga for the part. That was Todd Phillips’ idea before me. However, let me tell you, she exceeded expectations – she’s truly impressive. I was genuinely surprised when I saw her performance. I expected she’d be great in ‘A Star is Born’, but this… She’s exceptional. Joaquin Phoenix is mind-blowing, but Gaga managed to keep up with him and deliver a genuine performance without being overshadowed by the role and her character.”

The movie titled “Folie à Deux: Joker” is scheduled to hit the screens on October 4th, whereas “Deadpool & Wolverine” is currently only available in cinemas. The original “Joker” film can be streamed on Max, and the first two movies from the “Deadpool” series are accessible on Disney+.
