Joker: Folie a Deux director teases Harvey Dent’s transformation into Two-Face
Todd Phillips and Scott Silver, the directors behind “Joker: Folie a Deux,” spoke to journalists prior to its premiere at the Venice Film Festival. During the interview, they were questioned about why character Harvey Dent, portrayed by Harry Lawtey, was included in “Joker: Folie a Deux.
Todd Phillips explained to IGN that they understood and appreciated comics, including Harley Quinn, having watched the animated series. However, Margot Robbie portrays Harley in the film they created. He stated that their approach was to give a more grounded perspective to characters like Harley, while acknowledging that other films didn’t necessarily do this. As an example, he cited Harvey Dent, played by Harry Lawtey, in their film. Although Dent has a minor role, it made sense for him to be the Assistant DA prosecuting Arthur Fleck due to his position. However, the film does not delve deeply into Dent’s dark side; instead, we see a young Harvey Dent.
