Jon Stewart's Shocking Hand Injury: A Bloody Surprise on The Daily Show!

Injuries aren’t typically a daily occurrence on The Daily Show.

On the 24th of February’s broadcast, I, a devoted admirer, found myself stunned when our beloved host, Jon Stewart, inadvertently cut his hand during the show.

Towards the end of the program, Jon angrily broke a mug on his table as he passionately discussed the proposed budget reductions by the Department of Government Efficiency.

Stewart expressed frustration, stating, “The corporations receiving billions in our subsidies only let us bargain over the prices of ten of their medications. Yet, isn’t it all of them? It would be humiliating if this were merely a minor portion, and the American public didn’t expect us to negotiate for all their medications because we’ve already financed them through our subsidies! This is absolutely absurd!

As the crowd applauded, the mug cracked into fragments. Then, upon glancing at his hand, Jon concealed it beneath the desk.

He then jokingly added, “I’ll be going to the hospital soon.”

In a typical fashion, the Emmy award-winning host continued his monologue, concealing his wounded hand for several minutes. Then, he appeared to examine it, momentarily revealing it to the audience, which gasped audibly at the sight of the bloodied hand wrapped in a paper towel. Jon calmly reassured everyone by saying “It’s okay,” before wrapping up the episode.

Tonight on The Daily Show’s Instagram Story, a sneak peek was given before the broadcast, featuring an image of the host and the caption, “Tonight: Jon Stewart tackles DOGE coin and makes some self-edits. Rest assured, he’s doing well – we sure hope so!

There has been no update on the comedian’s injuries.

In 2024, Jon resumed his weekly hosting duties for the show and plans to continue through December 2025. He had been a full-time host from 1999 to 2015, but Trevor Noah took over as emcee in 2016 until his departure in 2022. Since then, the Comedy Central show has featured different hosts on a rotating basis.

The actor from the show “Kim Possible” added, “Regrettably, a piece became stuck at the back of my eye, making surgical removal too hazardous for now. However, doctors are closely watching my condition as I can currently see fine.

The actress expressed her heartfelt gratitude for simply being alive. She emphasized her profound love for her daughters, husband, family, and friends. She recounted a moment where she felt as if she was witnessing her life’s highlights reel, and urged everyone to cherish the people close to them, since circumstances can unexpectedly alter life in an instant.

Although the internet isn’t always a gentle environment, Amy Schumer is grateful that it provided her with answers in this specific instance.

In an episode of Call Her Daddy from January 2025, Amy remembered the online backlash she received after a series of interviews, saying, “Everyone, calm down.” However, doctors began chiming in on the comments section, suggesting that something might be wrong with her appearance, and they suspected Cushing syndrome. Amy joked, “I’m getting trolled by doctors?”

Upon learning about Cushing syndrome from the concerned physicians, Amy realized that she had been receiving steroid injections for her scars. She had undergone a breast reduction and C-section, among other procedures, which led to her developing this condition called Cushing syndrome.

Amy explained, “I had been getting these steroid injections, so it gave me this thing called Cushing syndrome, which I wouldn’t have known if the internet hadn’t criticized me so harshly.”

Now, Amy is simply relieved to know that she is healthy. As she wrote in her News Not Noise newsletter in February 2024, “Discovering that I have a type of Cushing syndrome that will eventually resolve itself and that I am otherwise healthy was the most wonderful news possible.

Hailey Bieber experienced a terrifying incident in March 2022 while having breakfast with her husband Justin Bieber. As she started exhibiting symptoms similar to a stroke, she couldn’t respond or speak properly. Thankfully, Justin noticed and asked if she was alright. When Hailey tried to respond, she found herself unable to form words, and her facial muscles on one side became weak.

A month later, Hailey shared her story on YouTube. She went to the hospital as a precaution, where they discovered a small blood clot in her brain. This was diagnosed as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA). Further investigation at the University of California, Los Angeles, revealed that she had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). The blood clot had passed through this hole and reached her brain, causing the TIA.

Hailey underwent a successful PFO closure procedure and is now feeling well.

In the same year Hailey went through her health issue, Justin also faced one of his own. Specifically, in June 2022, Justin Bieber announced he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition affecting the facial nerves and causing temporary paralysis to various parts of his face. This diagnosis forced him to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour.

In an Instagram video, Justin described the condition as one that “attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis.” He explained that “as you can see, this eye is not blinking,” he couldn’t smile on one side of his face, and one nostril was immobile, resulting in full paralysis on one side.

He mentioned that eating became increasingly difficult due to the condition, but eventually, the paralysis subsided.

Hailey commented on a June 2022 episode of Good Morning America, stating that Justin “is doing really well” and was feeling much better after the ordeal. She emphasized that while it was a terrifying and unexpected situation, Justin would be fine and she was grateful for his recovery.

Initially tight-lipped about his hospitalization in April 2023, Jamie Foxx eventually shared his experiences. In Atlanta, as he recounted during his 2024 Netflix special titled “What Had Happened Was…”, he complained of a severe headache and asked for an aspirin. However, before he could receive it, he collapsed unconscious.

Upon being examined by a doctor who administered a cortisone shot and sent him home, Foxx’s sister, Deidra Dixon, took matters into her own hands and drove him to another hospital. The diagnosis was a brain bleed that caused a stroke.

Twenty days following the operation, on May 4, the Academy Award winner awoke in a wheelchair unable to walk. He then moved to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.

“I want to express my gratitude for every prayer,” he said, “as I truly believe I needed each and every one of them.

Emilia Clarke, famously known for her role in Game of Thrones, filmed intense battle scenes, but in 2019, she penned an essay in The New Yorker entitled “A Battle for My Life.” In the gym, she described experiencing a severe headache which escalated into vomiting profusely. The pain, she explained, was intense and indicated her brain had been injured.

Rushed to the hospital for a scan, she was diagnosed with a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a critical type of stroke caused by bleeding around the brain. She’d suffered an aneurysm, a ruptured artery.

Emilia underwent immediate surgery to repair the aneurysm, describing the pain as unbearable. During her recovery, she struggled with aphasia, speaking nonsensical words.

A week later, her aphasia subsided and she was discharged from the hospital after a month’s stay. However, in a 2013 scan, they discovered a growth had doubled in size, requiring another surgery.

“When I woke up,” she wrote, “I was screaming in pain. The procedure had failed. My chances of survival were precarious if they didn’t operate again. This time they needed to access my brain the traditional way—through my skull.”

Thankfully, Emilia is now reportedly fully recovered and in good health.

Snoop Dogg’s daughter, Cori Broadus, expressed her gratitude towards her family after she experienced a severe stroke in January 2024. When she informed them about the incident, they promptly rallied to support her. “I sent them a text and a picture saying I just had a stroke,” she explained to Will Marfuggi from TopMob News in December 2024. “Everyone came to my aid.”

Since Cori had other health issues, she needed to stay in the hospital for an extended period, longer than she had initially anticipated. “I could have been discharged after the stroke,” she further explained, star of ‘Snoop’s Fatherhood: Cori and Wayne’s Story’. “However, my lupus wasn’t cooperating well, and my kidneys were failing. It was quite a challenge.”

Fortunately, today, Cori is on the road to recovery. “I’m doing well,” she reassured. “I just needed to regain some motor skills. Other than that, I was okay.

In her twenties, Shailene Woodley experienced numerous health troubles. The actress revealed on the September 2024 episode of the SHE MD Podcast that she suffered from hearing loss, fatigue, and stomach issues. She sought help from both traditional medical doctors and holistic healers in an attempt to find relief. This decade-long journey also led her to grapple with fears related to food due to her stomach pain, which eventually resulted in body dysmorphia, identity confusion, and a lack of feeling safe in her own skin. However, after addressing both her physical and mental health concerns, Shailene is now healthy and content.
