As a passionate film enthusiast, I’m saddened to share the heartbreaking news about the untimely demise of Jonathan Joss, a talented actor known for his roles in beloved series like King of the Hill and Parks and Recreation. Tragically, he was taken from us at the age of 59, following a shooting incident. This loss leaves a significant void in the world of entertainment.
On Sunday evening, June 1st, as reported by Variety, the police in San Antonio, Texas discovered a star who had been injured. Despite the officers’ attempts to save his life, he was declared dead at the location itself.
According to recent reports by TMZ, it appears that Joss became involved in a heated dispute with a neighbor, leading to Joss being shot.
In a Facebook post, Joss’s spouse, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, stated that just prior to the shooting, the gunman shouted hateful, violent words against their sexual orientation.
“When the man fired Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life,” Tristan said.
He also mentioned that he was “killed by an individual who strongly disapproved of two men expressing their love for one another.
In a later declaration, the San Antonio police stated there was no proof suggesting the shooting was related to Joss’s sexual orientation.
If fresh proof surfaces, I’ll be sure to bring charges against the individual accordingly, I assure you.
A 56-year-old man, Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, has been arrested and charged with murder.
1965 marks the birth of Joss in San Antonio, where he commenced his acting journey. Initially, he appeared in television films like ‘The Substitute Wife’, ‘Without Consent’ and ‘Walker, Texas Ranger’.
As a die-hard film enthusiast, I lent my voice to the unforgettable character of John Redcorn on King of the Hill from season 2 all the way through to season 13, culminating in its final airing in 2010.
Apart from that, he’d also taped segments for the revival of the popular series, which was officially unveiled back in 2023 and is slated to premiere this year.
Apart from his appearances on Friday Night Lights, The Wild Thornberrys, Ray Donovan, Chartered, Tulsa King, The Magnificent Seven, The Messengers, and The League, he has lent his voice to characters in Wasteland 3, Red Dead Redemption, Days Gone, and The Walking Dead: Michonne video games.
Additionally, Joss garnered support from fans of Parks and Recreation with his portrayal of Ken Hotate, the sharp-tongued leader of the Wamapoke Native American tribe.
In simpler terms, Mike Judge, Greg Daniels, and Saladin Patterson, the creators of King of the Hill, expressed their sympathy towards Joss after hearing about his untimely demise. They released a statement saying that Jonathan Joss, who played ‘John Redcorn’ on King of the Hill for more than a dozen seasons, including the upcoming revival, had passed away.
I, a devoted movie enthusiast, can’t help but feel the void left by the absence of his distinctive voice in King of the Hill. My heartfelt sympathies go out to Jonathan’s dear friends and family during this difficult time.
