As a long-time fan of hidden camera shows, I can’t contain my excitement for the return of “Scare Tactics“! The original series was a game-changer for me when it comes to prank shows. It wasn’t just about making people uncomfortable or pulling off harmless pranks; it was about creating truly terrifying situations that left viewers on the edge of their seats. And now, with Jordan Peele and Monkeypaw Productions at the helm, I have no doubt that this revival will take things to a whole new level.
Instead of some pranks shows that merely make people uncomfortable, Scare Tactics chose to create much more frightening experiences. This is the reason why Jordan Peele and his Monkeypaw Productions are reviving this series, which originally aired on SYFY from 2003 to 2013. The show utilized various scenarios and makeup effects to intensify the discomfort, making it a favorite among viewers compared to other prank shows due to its terrifying nature.
At Monkeypaw, we’re thrilled to be part of reinventing one of our cherished hidden camera shows, as expressed by Win Rosenfeld, Monkeypaw Productions’ president. Collaborating with Elan Gale, a trailblazer in unscripted TV and creator of countless pranks, and Scott Hallock, the mastermind behind the original “Scare Tactics,” has been an enjoyable experience. Laughing at people getting startled is both relieving and amusing. The pranks we’ve prepared for this season are quite extraordinary. We can hardly wait to bring some delightful schadenfreude to viewers soon.
In an unexpected turn, “Scare Tactics” transforms unsuspecting people into protagonists of horrifying movies. With a cinematic touch, this show brings the hidden camera concept to life in a thrilling manner. Friends and family orchestrate elaborate pranks, drawing participants into bizarre situations filled with intricately crafted narratives. As they confront one absurd choice after another, viewers will be amused, startled, and left craving for more.
In the initial version, various types of monsters instilled fear in their victims, ranging from extraterrestrial beings and mutated creatures to legendary figures like Bigfoot and hidden killers wearing masks.
It’s been a thrill for creator Hallock to collaborate with Jordan, Monkeypaw, and UTAS in reviving “Scare Tactics”. Fans have long requested the return of this show, and being part of this team to make it happen is an incredible experience.
I’m thrilled to be part of bringing Jordan Peele’s innovative ideas to life for our first unscripted series together. As a huge fan, it’s an honor to collaborate with such a visionary creator. This fresh take on the classic “Scare Tactics” is filled with laughter, jumps scares, and unexpected moments that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Trust me, with Jordan and Monkeypaw at the helm, you’ll never guess what’s coming next!
Stay tuned for updates on Scare Tactics before it airs on USA.
