Joshua Jackson Weighs in on Fates of Dawson's Creek's Pacey and Joey

As someone who grew up watching Dawson’s Creek and was deeply invested in the lives of Joey Potter and Pacey Witter, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia reading about their potential future together. It’s heartening to know that Joshua Jackson sees them living happily ever after, and I must say, the thought of Pacey raising Joey’s kids while she pursues her dreams is as adorable as it gets.

You won’t want to wait to find out where Joshua Jackson imagines his Dawson’s Creek character now.

20 years after Katie Holmes’ character Joey Potter made her decision between Pacey Witter (played by Josh Jackson) and Dawson Leery (James Van Der Beek) in the final episode of “Dawson’s Creek”, it appears that the couple have continued to live their fairytale ending as portrayed in the Mighty Ducks series.

“Yeah,” Jackson exclusively told TopMob News’ Francesca Amiker at the Los Angeles premiere of upcoming series Dr. Odyssey Sept. 18. “Why not?” (for more from Jackson, tune in to TopMob News at 11 p.m.)

The 46-year-old stated, “In my opinion, if she’s pursuing her dreams, it seems likely that he would be caring for their children instead. That appears to have been the plan.

Although Jackson’s imagining of Joey and Pacey’s future seems charming, even envisioning a mural that Joey might paint on the wall he bought for her – Kevin Williamson, the show’s creator, has hinted earlier that these characters may not last in the long run.

In 2018, he shared with Entertainment Weekly his thoughts: Pacey and Joey may have gotten married, started a family, faced difficulties, and eventually divorced. When we encounter them again, they’re in a difficult spot. However, there remains something powerful drawing them back together to raise their children.

Williamson went on to explain, “Whenever they pursue happiness together, they seem to find themselves drawn back to each other. There’s this extraordinary connection and bond between them that never ceases. It seems like we’d need to witness their rekindled love as mature adults once more.

However, concerning the possibility of a revival showing Joey and Pacey’s future, it’s important to note that both Jackson and Holmes, who had a relationship prior to portraying their characters, are not in favor of a reboot.

In an interview with Mr Porter in 2021, Jackson expressed his doubts about the idea of revisiting the characters. He stated, “There’s no reason for us to find out what these characters are up to as they grow older. We ended their story on a positive note. It seems unnecessary to show that Pacey is dealing with age-related issues like back pain. I don’t believe we need an update about their lives.

Regarding Holmes, she expressed her appreciation for the chance to film Dawson’s Creek, but made clear that she had no inclination towards re-exploring those characters as they grew older.

In a 2022 Screenrant interview, a 45-year-old expressed, “I find it wonderful that you feel nostalgic about it, and I do too. Yet, there’s something… We prefer not to see them as they were back then.

In 2021, Jackson expressed to Mr. Porter, “I can’t figure out why you’d want to revisit [the story],””It’s unnecessary to reveal what happened to those characters as they grow older,” he said. “We ended things on a pleasant note. I don’t think there’s a need to show that Pacey is experiencing age-related issues like back pain. I believe we’ve moved on from such an update.

Speaking from my perspective as a lifestyle expert, I must admit that I hold a deep appreciation for “Dawson’s Creek.” However, I can’t help but question whether revisiting the Capeside crew after so many years would be a viable endeavor.

In a recent 2022 Screenrant interview, as a lifestyle expert of my years, I shared that it truly resonates with me when I see your longing for the past. Indeed, I share that sentiment. However, the question arises: should these figures remain unchanged in their youthful glory? To be honest, I believe that’s not what we desire. We’ve all come to a consensus that we prefer to remember them as they were, rather than seeing them age.
