Joy Reid has officially signed off and said goodbye to The ReidOut family.
After an unexpected end to her show, “The ReidOut” on MSNBC, the veteran host expressed her gratitude towards her outstanding team and all those who’ve been part of her almost five-year voyage by saying goodbye.
Reid expressed gratitude to our fantastic readers, our followers, during the February 24th broadcast. He shared how much he enjoys bumping into you at airports, out on the street, and on social platforms.
She repeated her gratitude, saying, “Thank you, thank you, thank you.” She expressed that they had been standing strong for nearly five years, adding, “We’re just starting out in this world, navigating the streets, and we won’t be stopping anytime soon.
Earlier in the day, it was revealed by Rebecca Kulter (MSNBC’s newly appointed president) that the show would be concluding and Reid would be departing from the network. In her place at the 7 p.m. slot, MSNBC plans to feature Symone Sanders Townsend, Michael Steele, and Alicia Menendez from The Weekend.
In a statement on February 24th, Kulter expressed gratitude towards Joy Reid for her innumerable contributions over the years. Her efforts have been highly regarded, culminating in significant accolades such as the 2025 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding News Series.
Several others, such as former Biden White House press secretary Jen Psaki, acknowledged the mark left by Reid, expressing their respect for her in the opening of her program, “Inside with Jen Psaki,” which followed the last episode of “The ReidOut.
Psaki praised Reid, stating, ‘Her contributions are truly outstanding,’ she said. ‘Not only does she share unique stories that others don’t, but she does so bravely on her program. Moreover, she’s an exceptional individual.’
Minutes prior to distributing the memo, Reid conveyed her deep gratitude for the community she’s nurtured throughout the years.
She expressed gratitude in a February 24 Instagram post, acknowledging everyone who’s shown kindness and encouragement, whether it be personally or on social media platforms. “I couldn’t be more proud of my dedicated team at The Reidout (joy.msnbc.com), they are truly like family to me, as well as all our supporters and friends.
Apart from Reid, the host of another show is also saying goodbye, and that’s Lester Holt from NBC Nightly News. On the same day, Lester announced his departure after a decade, moving on to a permanent position at Dateline.
Or more concisely:
Lester Holt, a longtime anchor for NBC Nightly News, also revealed his intention to leave after a decade, taking up a full-time role at Dateline, similar to Reid’s situation.
In a note to staff on February 24th, Holt expressed that he feels a smile spread across his face knowing he’s anchored two of the most renowned and influential television news programs, Nightly News and Dateline. As a young radio reporter pursuing breaking news in San Francisco at 20 years old, he never could have envisioned his career would take this extraordinary course.
