As a seasoned movie critic hailing from the bustling city of Hollywood, I’ve seen my fair share of romantic comedies, but none have left quite the lasting impression that “The Holiday” has. This delightful film is a testament to the magic that can be weaved when talented individuals come together, and it’s evident that each actor brought their A-game to this production.
We haven’t seen the last of Mr. Napkin Head.
In the midst of persistent whispers about a potential follow-up to “The Holiday“, its director, Nancy Meyers, seized an opportune moment to clarify the one intriguing mystery. She directly approached one of the film’s actors, Jude Law, in a playful video during their recent get-together.
Nancy expressed her congratulations for the well-earned star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, saying it was fantastic in a video she posted on Instagram on December 12th, while filming the 51-year-old from across the table.
Yet, Nancy promptly delves into the matter at hand, pointing out that it’s now 18 years since the production of The Holiday, sparking curiosity among fans.
Regarding that topic, let me ask you this: With all the interviews I’ve noticed, people have been inquiring about a potential sequel. What are your thoughts on it?
Jude playfully glances at the camera, then repeats one of his most well-known scenes from the movie where he enacts Mr. Napkin Head for his little girls and Cameron Diaz’s character. Without uttering a word, the star of “Skeleton Crew” grabs a napkin, puts it on his head and adds glasses, silently considering the question.
In the 2006 romantic comedy, Jude acted alongside Kate Winslet and Jack Black. The story revolved around two single females, one from Los Angeles and another from Surrey, England, who exchanged places during the holiday season. As a result, each of them unexpectedly fell in love.
As a devoted admirer, I must share that recently, Jude confessed about his role as Graham Simpkins – the brother of Iris, Kate’s houseguest who finds himself smitten with her. In taking on this part for another production, he had one crucial condition.
He expressed, “Absolutely, I would,” during an earlier conversation with TopMob News. In essence, he emphasized, “Given that Nancy Meyers would be leading the project, we certainly would. Nancy Meyers stands out in her filmmaking; she’s not just a writer and director, but she crafts that distinctive aesthetic, that world, which is evident in her other films.
He remarked, “Could it be Christmas once more?” He implied this because he didn’t want them to celebrate on a sunny vacation instead.
He mentioned, “I’m intrigued. Given that there were two delightful pairs of people, it would be fascinating to return and observe what they’re up to now.
And, as the OG film’s title suggest, it has to be set at the holiday season.
He remarked, ‘Could it possibly be Christmas time once more?’ He added, ‘There’s no way they’d be around if it were any other holiday under the sun.’

Nancy Meyers wrote her main characters Iris and Amanda with Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz specifically in mind.
In choosing Cameron Diaz for her California-based movie trailer editor role, Diaz was the perfect fit for Meyers because she is both funny and relatable, with an ability to make audiences laugh while also being appealing and woman-friendly.
Meyers cast Jack Black for the role of Miles, Iris’ romantic interest, after being captivated by his performance in School of Rock, sharing with ComingSoon.net, “I found him delightful, he stood out on screen. He resonated with me as an audience member.
8. The unexpected breast brush scene between Miles and Iris wasn’t in the initial draft, but was inspired by a genuine incident involving Black and Meyers.
10. Amanda’s Los Angeles home was stunning, but Iris’ enchanting country cottage stole the show among the crew. After a thorough search, the producers couldn’t find their ideal location and decided to build one themselves, closer to London.
12. In an upcoming movie trailer that Amanda’s company is producing, Lindsay Lohan and James Franco appear as surprise stars. I’ve known Lindsay because I directed ‘The Parent Trap’, so I casually persuaded her to participate by reminding her of our past collaboration. She was accommodating about it and agreed without hesitation. As for Franco, we had crossed paths at some dinner parties through mutual friends. Since I already knew him a bit, I asked him if he’d be interested, and surprisingly, Lindsay and James were acquainted, making the whole thing even more enjoyable.
14. “By the end of that week,” Diaz confessed to Vulture last year, “I was in such top form that I’d run around seven miles a day in those heels – through mud and hills! It was just hysterical. I was practically saying, ‘I’m not even complaining because my job is to run, and I’m fine with that. But boy, was I sweating!’
