As a seasoned gamer and anime enthusiast with over two decades under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from the rise and fall of various genres to the evolution of animation techniques. The recent announcement of the upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen movie has me absolutely thrilled!
As a dedicated fan, I’m excitedly looking towards the future, and it appears that the silver screen could be in store for Jujutsu Kaisen! While MAPPA Studios is diligently working on season three, they’re also taking a pause to revisit the second season. Intriguingly, a new movie based on Jujutsu Kaisen is underway! This film will bring together the first half of season two into an engaging cinematic experience.
Over the weekend, an announcement was made public as Jujutsu Kaisen hosted a special event in Japan. During this occasion, it was revealed that a compilation film for both the Hidden Inventory and Premature Death story arcs is currently being developed. This movie is slated for release in 2025, and simultaneously, MAPPA Studios will also publish a guidebook.
If you’re interested in understanding how compilation films work within anime, it’s quite common to find these movies. Many TV anime series eventually make their way to the big screen due to this format. Compilation films are created to simplify long anime storylines by breaking them down into manageable segments. Titles like Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, One Piece, and numerous other popular shonen series have previously released compilation movies, and now it’s Jujutsu Kaisen‘s turn to participate.
For the team at MAPPA, this Jujutsu Kaisen movie isn’t the only compilation piece it has on deck. Not long ago, the studio confirmed plans to release a compilation film for Attack on Titan‘s final two specials. The movie, which is called Attack on Titan: Last Attack, is expected to hit Japan next year. So for now, we will have to see whether these compilation projects are screened stateside.
To catch up on the second season of “Jujutsu Kaisen”, it’s readily available online. You can also stream it on platforms like Hulu and Crunchyroll. For additional details about this captivating supernatural series, here’s a brief summary you might find helpful:
