Jujutsu Kaisen Epilogue Reveals Nobara’s Mother At Last

As a long-time observer of the Jujutsu Kaisen universe, I must say that Nobara Kugisaki’s character arc has been nothing short of captivating. Her return after four years, fraught with speculation and controversy, added an intriguing layer to the manga’s final battle against Sukuna.

In the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, Nobara’s reappearance in the climactic battle against Sukuna sparked much debate among readers. She had sustained a lethal wound during her confrontation with Mahito and was absent from the narrative for four years. Subsequent mentions of her were few and often suggested that she might have perished. Despite these indications, manga creator Gege Akutami kept Nobara in reserve as his ultimate surprise move against Sukuna. Her Resonance ability is so potent that it can severely injure any target when employed on their body parts.

Consequently, she aims her assault at Sukuna, causing him further harm and potentially dealing a lethal blow. With Sukuna already in a frail state, this could be the decisive strike. Following that, Yuji and Megumi confront the antagonist; Yuji ultimately delivers the finishing blow while Megumi assists. After the battle concludes, Nobara receives a message from her mentor Satoru Gojo, who managed to locate Nobara’s mother. It’s peculiar that Akutami would mention Nobara’s mother for the first time only as the manga nears its end. Nevertheless, it seems he had intended an epilogue all along.

Nobara Meets Her Mother in the Jujutsu Kaisen Epilogue

The 16-page epilogue of ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ primarily focuses on Nobara, Yuko, Panda, and Uraume. Each character’s tale spans over four pages. Nobara was infuriated by the topic of her mother, due to her indifference towards the negligent parent she hadn’t seen in years. Despite this, she decided to honor Gojo’s final request and utilized the information he provided to set up a meeting. Nobara was raised by her maternal grandmother who possessed some cursed energy, making it easier for her to facilitate the meeting.

In the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, while Nobara visits her mother, she maintains an icy demeanor, suggesting a long-standing estrangement and no immediate intentions to reconcile. However, respecting Gojo’s advice, she engages in conversation with her mother. In contrast, Nobara’s mother exudes a warm smile, seeming genuinely pleased that her daughter is enjoying her life as a sorcerer, despite its harshness.

The Jujutsu Kaisen Epilogue Sheds Light on Nobara’s Relationship With Her Irresponsible Mother

Nobara’s mom was a sorceress, but Nobara admits that she herself had no knack for it. However, Nobara disagrees, arguing that what her mother lacked wasn’t the ability of a sorceress, but the nurturing qualities of a parent. Her mother feels that Nobara is trying to make her admit this. In fact, she says that Nobara hasn’t changed at all and is enjoying herself while flirting with the wealthy, drinking excessively, and dating many young men.

Once more, Nobara underlines that she holds no affection for her mother, yet respects the deceased. However, there’s another motive for visiting her mother – Nobara anticipates some amusement. Catching her mother off guard, Nobara instead addresses her grandmother, causing a shock in the mother. The grandmother appears quite fearsome and seems eager to instill a fright into her unruly daughter.

It’s not just that Nobara wasn’t brought up by her mother, but she continues to live an unrestrained life similar to her youth. Consequently, they will have a lengthy conversation, and although her mother suffers, Nobara seems to enjoy it. Initially resistant, things eventually work out favorably for her. Regrettably, there’s no true reconciliation between the two (which was unlikely from the start), but at least Nobara won’t be burdened by this painful unresolved issue in Jujutsu Kaisen.
