Jujutsu Kaisen Epilogue Reveals Who Survives Until the Very End

As an observer with a keen interest in manga and a soft spot for tragic characters, I find myself deeply moved by the fate of Panda from Jujutsu Kaisen. His journey, marked by his unique creation, bravery, and resilience, is a testament to the depth and complexity that author Gege Akutami brings to his stories.

In September 2024, the “Jujutsu Kaisen” manga wrapped up its storyline following the fight against Sukuna, the main villain and King of Curses. Thanks to teamwork from all sorcerers, Sukuna was defeated and met his demise. With Sukuna’s reign over, each sorcerer focuses on reshaping the Jujutsu world. Although the struggle against curses will persist eternally, by offering better education to future sorcerers, we can reduce casualties in the future.

Among the sorcerers, there is one who didn’t participate in the attack against Sukuna. Panda ends up losing two of his cores and his entire body following his battle with Kashimo. In a close call, just as Kashimo was about to destroy Panda’s head, Hakari intervenes at the last moment. However, due to this encounter, Panda has shrunk significantly and is no longer capable of fighting. Sadly, without Masamichi Yaga’s assistance, he remains in this state for an extended period. He makes a brief appearance before the strongest battle to encourage Gojo. The epilogue from Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 30 reveals his sad fate, despite him living longer than most of his comrades.

The Jujutsu Kaisen Panda Epilogue Is Set in 2080

Despite being the last character alive in the future, Panda’s story is heartbreakingly sad. After the devastating sorcery terrorism incident in November 2018, he lost the ability to operate independently. In October 2035, he ceased all activity and was placed into the Gojo family storage. Yuta Okkotsu, the current representative of the Gojo Clan, received Panda as a unique cursed item. Following his teacher’s demise, Yuta assumed control of the Gojo Clan in an acting capacity.

In the year 2080, Yuta’s grandchildren visited the storage to find Panda. They regarded the items in the room as Yuta’s precious keepsakes, among which was Panda. Although Panda no longer functioned properly, it occasionally moved. It retained its consciousness and even perceived Yuta’s grandchildren as rather boisterous. Despite being the character from JJK who lived the longest, Panda endured the harshest fate by living a solitary life. All his companions grew old and passed away while he was confined like an item. For him, time seemed to stand still, and he remained in a small form resembling a stuffed toy.

How Did Panda Survive For That Long?

Panda is a unique character crafted by Masamichi Yaga, capable of generating its own cursed energy and being the only known entity among independent cursed corpses. Born sentient with three distinct cores, each core grants Panda special abilities, enabling him to change his physical form at will based on the activated core. Among other cursed corpses, Panda is exceptional and doesn’t have a mortal body, which allows him to endure longer. After a battle with Kashimo, Yaga’s death left Panda powerless, though he managed to retain his consciousness. For centuries or even millennia, Panda has remained inactive but still alive. If Yaga were still alive, he could have helped restore Panda’s strength.
