Jujutsu Kaisen: How Did Yuta Okkotsu Come Back to Life?

Jujutsu Kaisen: How Did Yuta Okkotsu Come Back to Life?

As a die-hard fan of Jujutsu Kaisen, I’ve been through countless emotional rollercoasters with this series. But nothing quite compares to the heart-pounding suspense of Yuta Okkotsu’s return from the brink of death! After witnessing the Shinjuku Showdown and the seemingly tragic end for our beloved character, I was left in a state of despair.

In a few more chapters, the popular manga series Jujutsu Kaisen will conclude its run this month, leaving only two installments left from Gege Akutami’s extensive narrative. As the Shinjuku Showdown arc has wrapped up following the battle against Sukuna, it’s now time for Yuji Itadori and his companions to rest before the climactic final act. In the latest chapter, we learn how Yuta Okkotsu managed to return from the dead after their encounter with Sukuna.

In its concluding chapters, Jujutsu Kaisen delves into the aftermath of Yuji and companions dissecting the events following their battle with Sukuna. Each character has faced substantial setbacks since the Shibuya Incident, yet fortunately, one potential loss was thwarted. During a desperate ploy against the King of Curses, Yuta extracted his brain and placed it inside Gojo’s body; however, he was spared from his own demise due to Rika’s profound love for him.

Jujutsu Kaisen 269: Yuta Returns

In the latest installment of Jujutsu Kaisen, I find myself picking up where we left off, with Maki scolding me for my behavior during the Shinjuku Showdown. It turns out that by the grace of fate, I’ve miraculously managed to return to my physical form, as evidenced by the stitches on my forehead. You see, after switching bodies with Gojo, I thought Rika wouldn’t follow me, and when I adopted his powers, I believed our bond had been severed. However, thanks to Shoko Ieiri and Rika’s use of the Reverse Curse technique, they managed to keep my body functional even while my brain was away. Thus, I could return to it once the need arose.

When the copy of Kenjaku’s ability within Sukuna’s realm expired, Yuta believed he was about to perish. However, it was discovered that Kenjaku remained active even after the realm was opened. It seemed that some curse techniques could be split using barrier techniques. As Rika was an external curse, Yuta was able to reconnect with her when he regained control of his own curse powers. Consequently, he managed to regain possession of his body and use Rika to resurrect completely.

What Happens to Gojo Now?

This scenario raises an intriguing query indeed. With Yuta now back in his original form, how might this affect Gojo? It seems regrettable that the wishful thinking of fans seeing Gojo resurrected before the series concludes may not come to pass. Unlike Yuta, who managed to endure the brain swap thanks to Rika’s intervention and an unusual set of circumstances, Gojo faced a much more critical predicament.

Before Shoko extracted Gojo’s brain for Yuta, he was already deceased. Even though his body remained active, it’s unlikely that Gojo was preserved like Yuta was before he reentered his body. Therefore, Yuji and the others will probably need to bid a proper farewell to Gojo as things wind down. This spiritual goodbye might be all we get for the character, which may disappoint fans who had hoped for a shared happy ending with the rest of the group following Yuta’s return. In essence, it seems that Gojo’s story has reached its conclusion.
