Jujutsu Kaisen Isn’t Done Yet: What to Know for the Manga’s Return

As someone who has been following Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga since its early days, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and curiosity as we approach the release of Volume 30. The announcement of an epilogue focusing on Nobara Kugisaki, Uraume, Panda, and Yuko Ozawa promises to shed some light on characters that seemed to have been left hanging in the original ending.

Jujutsu Kaisen, the popular manga series, has revealed that it will return with a unique twist and offer an additional epilogue following the conclusion of its main storyline. The creator, Gege Akutami, concluded the manga’s serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine this Fall. To celebrate the final chapter, the manga is releasing its last two volumes simultaneously on shelves later this week. Japan will be the first to receive these final issues of Jujutsu Kaisen, and there are big surprises in store for the grand finale, set to arrive soon with fresh content.

At the Jump Festa 2025 event, Jujutsu Kaisen has unveiled unique plans accompanying the releases of volumes 29 and 30 of the manga. Starting on overseas shelves from December 25th, volume 30 will feature additional pages not originally published. These new pages will introduce a fresh epilogue story about certain characters post the original ending.

What’s New for Jujutsu Kaisen’s New Epilogue?

In addition to additional artwork and sketches from the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, Gege Akutami, Volume 30 of Jujutsu Kaisen will include an extra 16 pages. These bonus pages will feature a new epilogue story that centers around Nobara Kugisaki, Uraume, Panda, and Yuko Ozawa. Although it may seem unexpected to concentrate on this particular group following the original conclusion, it does tie in somewhat as these characters did not receive a definitive ending within the original series. In fact, one of the criticisms of the original ending was its lack of resolution for some characters.

Instead of the clear-cut conclusion that “My Hero Academia” enthusiasts experienced this year, “Jujutsu Kaisen” ended up in a rather messy state. The final manga chapters seemed to pose more questions than they answered, and certain later developments appeared to be hastily dismissed in favor of what felt like a hurried ending. However, the epilogue offers a chance to rectify this situation, as fans are given another opportunity to see Gege Akutami’s vision for wrapping up the story neatly.

How Will Jujutsu Kaisen Return?

The upcoming epilogue doesn’t provide extensive insights into its content, but it’s intriguing to see Nobara Kugisaki, Uraume, Panda, and Yuko Ozawa in the spotlight. A significant chapter preceding the Shibuya Incident arc may offer clues about how this epilogue will unfold. In this chapter, we find Nobara encountering Yuko, who confesses her past crush on Yuji during their school days. However, as this series primarily concentrates on other aspects, fans are left without a clear resolution regarding this matter.

This potential encounter between them could be another instance, following all the events that transpired. It may signal a surprising turn in Yuji’s storyline, deviating from what fans might have assumed based on how the primary series concluded. If not, it at least underscores the possibility that Yuji now has other reasons to strive for something more, beyond merely serving as a general protector of the Jujutsu world once all is said and done. Given everything he’s experienced, he deserves this new challenge.
