Jujutsu Kaisen’s Best Backstory Revealed as a Dream All Along

Jujutsu Kaisen shines primarily through its intricate power system and pulse-pounding battles. This series is set in a universe where accumulated negative human emotions give rise to malevolent spirits intent on destruction. The idea that humans generate emotions and then struggle against them underscores an endless cycle of pain. As humanity persists, so too will the emergence of these curses. Despite Jujutsu Sorcerers’ tireless efforts to protect people, the sheer quantity of curses makes it impossible for them to save everyone entirely. What adds to the poignancy is that those who require rescue the most are often the sorcerers themselves, who have experienced the cruel realities of this world directly.

Characters from the anime “Jujutsu Kaisen” often sacrifice themselves for others or become lost in the struggle against curses. Suguru Geto was a character who met this fate and despite Gojo’s best efforts, he couldn’t be saved. Alone on his path to evil, Geto perished at the hands of his closest friend. For Gojo, the most cherished memories are those from their high school years together with Geto, while the darkest moment was when he realized he couldn’t prevent Geto’s descent into madness. The studio MAPPA, responsible for “Jujutsu Kaisen”, is lauded for its meticulous animation and gripping storytelling that intensifies the narrative from the manga. While some minor details in the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc were initially overlooked, they add to the already heart-wrenching backstory.

Jujutsu Kaisen Fan Points Out the Subtle Details in the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc

A Japanese fan posted something, which rapidly spread across the community due to many members overlooking certain nuances. This detail added an extra layer of sadness to an already heart-wrenching storyline. For instance, a scene where Gojo, Geto, and Misato were conversing by a pool, only showed Gojo’s reflection – a character who didn’t perish in that particular story arc. Furthermore, the windows in the basketball court varied in different scenes. These discrepancies weren’t errors in production, but rather symbolized the idea that those who have passed away no longer cast reflections.

In Gojo’s dream, which has been warped by time for twelve years, the windows aren’t identical to what they really are. This entire dream sequence is a product of Gojo falling asleep at his office desk and experiencing this arc in his dream. Since he was sleeping, details like the exact appearance of the windows or reflections of the deceased might not be accurate in his memory.

In the tale, we delved into Gojo’s past, however, as it was told from his point of view, it primarily focused on Geto, who took center stage in his dream. He kept recalling fragments of his younger years and the fateful day when everything fell apart. The dream concluded when Gojo’s students disturbed his slumber, after which he resumed his routine, acknowledging that those 12-year-old days would never return again.
