Julianne Hough Reveals Which DWTS Win She Disagreed With

As a longtime follower of Dancing With the Stars and someone who has danced professionally on the show, I must admit that my opinions about the contestants and winners are as varied as the dance styles themselves. While it’s always exciting to see celebrities stepping out of their comfort zones onto the dance floor, there have been times when I found myself in disagreement with the ultimate winner. Case in point, Bobby Bones from season 27 – while he may have had a strong fan base, his dancing skills were not up to par compared to some others that season.

Julianne Hough didn’t dance around this topic.

In a straightforward discussion, the 36-year-old co-host of “Dancing With the Stars” openly shared her preferences among the competitors and also commented critically about a previous winner whom she felt was not truly deserving of the Mirrorball Trophy.

During an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” on August 18, Andy Cohen asked Julianne if there was a DWTS winner she didn’t agree with. In response, Mickey Guyton chimed in and simply stated, “I said Bobby Bones.”

As an ardent admirer, I wholeheartedly concur with your sentiments. The power lies in the fandom on that particular show, and I firmly believe it’s the fan base that influenced the outcome. In my opinion, he wasn’t the most gifted dancer.

As a devoted fan, I was thrilled to see my favorite radio DJ, Bobby Estell, claim victory in season 27 of DWTS back in 2018, dancing his way to triumph alongside Sharna Burgess as his partner. Milo Manheim and Evanna Lynch put up a fierce fight, ultimately taking the runner-up and third place positions, respectively.

Furthermore, though Julianne wasn’t part of Bobby’s season, she has taken on roles as a professional dancer, judge, and currently shares hosting duties with Alfonso Ribeiro on the popular dance competition series.

Among the contestants who particularly stood out to her, Julianne named her top five picks: Kellie Pickler, Xochitl Gomez, Iman, Adam Carolla, and Apollo Ohno.

The popular show “Dancing With the Stars” is set to start its season 33 on September 17th. As of now, the celebrity participants haven’t been revealed yet, but judges Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Derek Hough will be offering their evaluations.

Despite no official announcement regarding the cast, there’s been plenty of buzz online about predictions. With the recent surge of fame for U.S. athletes from the Paris Olympics, it’s sparked lots of discussion about whether some of this year’s outstanding stars might step into the ballroom.

Stephen Nedoroscik, a bronze medalist, has sparked whispers about his possible inclusion in the team, following rumors. This speculation arose when Stephen unexpectedly dropped out of the Gold All Over America gymnastics tour roster, an event his girlfriend Tess McCracken had said he was preparing for after the Olympics. Later, he posted on Instagram that he was traveling to New York.

Previous Olympic athletes participating in the competition have featured gymnasts like Simone Biles and Suni Lee, who represented their teams during seasons 24 and 30 respectively.

Shawn Johnson, aged 32, and Laurie Hernandez, at 24, are among the youngest champions in the history of the competition show. Shawn, who now has three children – Drew (4), Jett (2) and Barrett (9 months) with her husband Andrew East – won the title during season eight at just 17 years old. She also finished second in the all-star season of the show in 2012.
