The much-loved Jurassic Park franchise is making a comeback! Previous Jurassic World films didn’t fare too well with both viewers and critics, leading many to believe that the series created by Steven Spielberg might never regain its footing again. However, being a timeless classic, efforts have been made to continue the original 90s trilogy in a new era. Unfortunately, the narrative lost its way, particularly after Dominion. Now, with the release of Jurassic World: Rebirth scheduled for July and its trailer now available, it appears that the story is returning to its core elements, and we’re eagerly anticipating the outcome!
As a cinephile, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the upcoming movie for quite some time now. Now that we have more details, my excitement is soaring even higher! It seems this film could potentially breathe new life into one of cinema’s most revered classics, all while preserving its honor and dignity. If it truly lives up to its title Rebirth, it will undoubtedly be a masterpiece worth waiting for.
What to Expect from Jurassic World: Rebirth
It’s been made clear for some time now that Jurassic World: Rebirth will be a reboot, but with a twist. Essentially, David Koepp, the writer behind the first two films in the original Jurassic Park trilogy, is returning to bring back the tone from the ’90s, but with fresh characters. This suggests that while Jurassic World ventured into new territories with threats beyond dinosaurs, the revamped franchise appears to be focusing more on grand spectacle and a broader storyline rather than being confined to a specific location. The sci-fi and horror elements seem to have been replaced by something more commercially-driven and expansive.
He further explained that Rebirth won’t undo (retcon) the events from the last three Jurassic World movies, keeping their storyline valid. This intriguing fact leaves us curious about how they plan to cohesively connect all the pieces in a significant manner. As hinted by the film’s brief description, the narrative revolves around a fresh team on an island, aiming to capture the DNA of the three colossal creatures ever known to mankind. During their journey, they encounter civilians. With the trailer now out, additional details are being disclosed.
Zora Bennet (played by Scarlett Johansson), Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey), and Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali) travel to a research facility on an island reminiscent of Jurassic Park. Five years after the last movie, the upcoming film “Rebirth” will find this team seeking a crucial component for a potential miracle drug that could significantly improve human health. As they progress, they stumble upon a boat expedition wrecked by marine dinosaurs, leaving the entire group stranded on the island. The narrative is captivating and a delight for fans of Jurassic Park, as it delivers exactly what viewers have been anticipating: characters stuck with dinosaurs.
One point is undeniable: many aspects of the story remain shrouded in mystery right from the outset, due to the fact that when scientists initially revived dinosaurs, their objective wasn’t for amusement, as depicted in the first Jurassic World. This concept has been under-explored since then. In this new installment, the narrative is returning to this uncharted territory, and even in the trailer, we catch a brief glimpse of some of the deadliest creatures ever conceived. Although they are not fully revealed, just a hint of their presence stirs both fear and excitement within us. Yet, we’re left wondering: which dinosaur is it? And will there be any new ones?
The New Dinosaurs of Jurassic World: Rebirth
In the preview for the upcoming film, various characters engage in battles with creatures ranging from airborne lizards to colossal sea-dwelling dinosaurs. However, the most gripping part of the sequence isn’t the action, but rather a tense encounter with an unusual creature – a hybrid. At first sight, it appears like an enormous extraterrestrial being, yet its true nature and abilities remain a mystery for now. Given previous discussions about efforts to create dangerous creatures since Jurassic Park, it’s not surprising that the new movie, titled Jurassic World Rebirth, promises to reveal what double danger truly entails. If we thought the Indominus rex was hazardous, this film is set to demonstrate just how much more perilous things can get.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that along with those already familiar species, there will be some newcomers introduced. While they may resemble previous film characters in appearance, their context on this experimental island gives them distinct characteristics. For instance, you might notice a T-Rex adorned with tiger stripes or a modified Spinosaurus attacking the expedition boat. The Velociraptors, Mosasaurus, Dilophosaurus, Quetzalcoatlus, Titanosaurus are making a return as well. It’s also possible that we’ll see some entirely new and unique species in this film too.
The point is, several creatures are concealed within the trailer, although some well-known ones do pop up, while others remain hidden in mystery due to not being fully revealed. However, it appears that Rebirth is planning to bring these creatures into the spotlight, which is thrilling news. The last three Jurassic World movies seemed to focus more on other aspects instead of the iconic dinosaurs, but Rebirth aims to demonstrate that the ’90s are back with a vengeance. Moreover, it’s intriguing that these events can now be presented in a more authentic manner, as CGI technology enhances the viewing experience and creates the terrifying and enigmatic dinosaurs we’ve long anticipated.
The Cast & Characters of Jurassic World Rebirth
The cast of Jurassic World: Rebirth is packed with illustrious figures:
- Scarlett Johansson as Zora Bennett – A skilled covert operations expert hired to lead a team on a mission to obtain genetic material from dinosaurs. The actress is the new star of the saga, having previously admitted that she was eager to be part of a movie in the franchise.
- Jonathan Bailey as Dr. Henry Loomis – A paleontologist who joins the team to help obtain genetic material from dinosaurs.
- Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid – A member of Zora’s team who plays a crucial role in the mission.

As a movie enthusiast, I’m excited about the addition of actors like Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein to the cast. The big question on everyone’s mind is: will Chris Pratt reprise his role as Owen Grady? Although there’s no official word yet, given that Rebirth seems to be setting up for more sequels, we might just get a glimpse of Owen in the storyline. Here’s hoping!
In the upcoming movie, Steven Spielberg will serve as an executive producer, while Gareth Edwards, recognized for his work on “Godzilla” and “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”, will take on the role of director. The script is penned by David Koepp.
Jurassic World: Rebirth hits theaters on July 2nd.
