Earlier this year, it became known that Gareth Edwards, who directed “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and “Godzilla,” is taking charge of a new “Jurassic World” movie for Universal. Production on the latest addition to the popular series began in June, with stars like Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, and others set to appear. The title of the film was unveiled today as “Jurassic World: Rebirth,” and a poster for it was released by Universal. Additionally, two photographs featuring Johansson, Ali, and Bailey were also shared by the studio.

What Is Jurassic World: Rebirth About?

Alongside a fresh title and new images, Universal has unveiled an official summary for the fourth Jurassic World movie. Titled “Jurassic World: Rebirth”, it’s set to premiere next summer, three years after the trilogy wrapped up with each film grossing over $1 billion worldwide. The iconic Jurassic series is about to take a creative new turn in this exciting sequel.

In this exciting new installment, action star Scarlett Johansson, rising talent Jonathan Bailey, and two-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali lead the way as they rush to gather DNA samples from the three largest beasts inhabiting earth, sea, and sky. Joining them are renowned global actors Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, under the direction of visionary filmmaker Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), who worked on the screenplay with David Koepp, the original writer of Jurassic Park.

5 years post the events depicted in “Jurassic World Dominion”, it has been discovered that Earth’s ecosystem is largely unsuitable for dinosaurs. The ones still alive reside in secluded equatorial regions with climates similar to their original habitats. The existence of these three gigantic creatures within this tropical sanctuary holds the secret to a drug offering extraordinary life-saving advantages for humanity.

In the scenario where Zora’s surgical operation coincides with a civilian group whose boat accident was caused by prehistoric marine creatures, they end up stranded on an island. There, they uncover a startling secret that has been concealed from humanity for several decades. Ali is Duncan Kincaid, Zora’s chief ally; Jonathan Bailey, an Emmy nominee and Olivier Award winner known for Wicked and Bridgerton, portrays Dr. Henry Loomis, a paleontologist. Rupert Friend, an Emmy nominee from Homeland and Obi-Wan Kenobi, takes on the role of pharmaceutical representative Martin Krebs. Lastly, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, famed for The Lincoln Lawyer and Murder on the Orient Express, plays Reuben Delgado, the father of the shipwreck survivors.

This movie stars Luna Blaise (known for ‘Manifest’), David Iacono (‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’), and Audrina Miranda (‘Lopez vs. Lopez’) as the family of Reuben. Additionally, Philippine Velge (‘Station Eleven’), Bechir Sylvain (‘BMF’), and Ed Skrein (‘Deadpool’) are part of Zora and Krebs’ teams. BAFTA award-winning Edwards directs ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’, scripted by Koepp (of ‘War of the Worlds’), based on characters created by Michael Crichton. The film is produced by Frank Marshall, an Oscar nominee and longtime Jurassic franchise producer, as well as Patrick Crowley. This summer’s blockbuster, ‘Twisters’, also shares these producers. Steven Spielberg, Denis L. Stewart, and Jim Spencer serve as executive producers for the film.

Jurassic World: Rebirth is scheduled to open in theaters on July 2, 2025.
