In June, the latest addition to the Jurassic Park series, titled “Jurassic World: Rebirth,” will hit theaters, promising to explore uncharted territory for the franchise with a daring new approach.
Over more than 30 years, the Jurassic World series has had its share of highs and lows. Specifically, Jurassic World: Dominion, which is the sixth film in the Jurassic Park series and concluding part of the Jurassic World trilogy, faced a less favorable response from critics (yet earned $1 billion at global box offices).
Stepping into my role as a movie critic, let me share some insights on the upcoming film, Jurassic World: Rebirth. As its title implies, it seems this sequel is poised to start fresh, parting ways with Colin Trevorrow – who directed all three Jurassic World films – and welcoming in a new director, Gareth Edwards. Alongside this change, we can expect an entirely novel cast to breathe life into the dinosaur-filled world of Isla Nublar.
5 years following the events of Jurassic World Dominion, a fresh installment revolves around a clandestine operation spearheaded by operative Zora Bennett (portrayed by Scarlett Johansson), whose objective is to acquire genetic samples from the globe’s three largest dinosaurs. This collection aims to create an innovative drug with the power to save lives.
But as Zora’s crew proceeds, they unexpectedly encounter a shipwrecked family whose boat was destroyed by marine dinosaurs. Stranded on an island, they discover it’s home to genetically modified dinosaurs that originated from the Jurassic Park research facility.
Edwards explained to EW that it’s clear things don’t work out as planned, yet for a Jurassic Park enthusiast, it’s an exciting spectacle to witness. The movie keeps you gripped from start to finish, refusing to let go even until the end credits roll.
Curious if the upcoming movie could potentially rejuvenate the Jurassic Park series? Here’s what you should know about it.
