Jurassic World: Rebirth — Scarlett Johansson’s Reboot Gets New Title and Poster

As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast with a soft spot for the Jurassic Park franchise, I can’t help but feel a rush of adrenaline upon witnessing the motion poster for Jurassic World: Rebirth. Growing up, the original films were my gateway drug to the world of cinema; they ignited my imagination and fueled countless hours of imaginative play, long before I ever held a gaming controller in my hands.

Universal Studios has unveiled a dynamic promotional image for “Jurassic World: Rebirth,” the forthcoming chapter in the blockbuster Jurassic Park series, marking a new phase of the park’s story. Starring Scarlett Johansson, this movie is scheduled to hit theaters on July 2, 2025, making it an ideal choice for filmgoers over the July 4th weekend, traditionally a popular period for family-friendly blockbusters like Jurassic World. The summer of 2025 looks set to be action-packed, with major franchises such as Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps and Warner Bros.’ Superman (directed by James Gunn) also making their way to the big screen.

You can see the poster (along with a short musical sting and reveal) below.

In a conversation with ComicBook, Johansson shared that they are deeply fond of Jurassic Park. They recall it as one of their earliest cinema experiences and describe it as profoundly impactful, almost life-changing. It left them absolutely thrilled.

She’s been warmly received, even by long-time franchise member (and co-star from Marvel Studios) Jeff Goldblum, who extended a friendly greeting through a video message for her.

What Is the New Jurassic World Movie About?

Here’s the official synopsis for the new film:

A new era is born.

Three years from now, following the conclusion of the Jurassic World trilogy, each movie raking in over a billion dollars worldwide, the iconic Jurassic franchise takes a fresh and inventive turn with the release of Jurassic World: Rebirth.

In this thrilling new installment, Scarlett Johansson, a renowned action star, Jonathan Bailey, an emerging talent, and Mahershala Ali, a two-time Academy Award winner, lead the charge. The story follows a brave team on a mission to gather DNA samples from three massive beasts inhabiting different environments – land, sea, and air. Alongside them are Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, respected actors from around the world. Gareth Edwards, known for his exceptional visual style (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”), directs this film, while David Koepp, the original “Jurassic Park” screenwriter, provides the script.

Five years following the Jurassic World Dominion incidents, it’s clear that Earth’s environment is largely unsuitable for dinosaurs. Only those that survive reside in equatorial regions with climates reminiscent of their ancient habitats. The three largest creatures inhabiting this tropical ecosystem possess genetic material crucial to a groundbreaking drug beneficial to human survival.

1. Ali assumes the role of Duncan Kincaid, Zora’s top-trusted squad leader; the Emmy-nominated and Olivier Award-winning actor Jonathan Bailey (from “Wicked” and “Bridgerton”) embodies the character of paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis; Emmy nominee Rupert Friend (known for his work in “Homeland” and “Obi-Wan Kenobi”) portrays Martin Krebs, a representative from Big Pharma; and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (from “The Lincoln Lawyer” and “Murder on the Orient Express”) takes on the character of Reuben Delgado, the father of the shipwrecked civilian family.

In the movie, Luna Blaise (known for her role in Manifest), David Iacono (famous from The Summer I Turned Pretty), and Audrina Miranda (recognized from Lopez vs. Lopez) portray Reuben’s family. Additionally, Philippine Velge (previously seen in Station Eleven), Bechir Sylvain (notable for BMF), and Ed Skrein (who appeared in Deadpool) are part of Zora and Krebs’ groups.

“Jurassic World: Rebirth” is helmed by BAFTA-winning director Edwards, with a screenplay penned by Koepp (known for ‘War of the Worlds’), based on characters originally crafted by Michael Crichton. The movie is produced by Oscar nominee Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, who have been key producers in the Jurassic Park series since its inception, including this year’s box office hit, Twisters. Steven Spielberg, Denis L. Stewart, and Jim Spencer serve as executive producers for this film.”

Jurassic World: Rebirth is scheduled to open in theaters on July 2, 2025.
