The data presented here stems from Fandango’s yearly Movie Trends & Insights Survey, which is conducted as the movie industry prepares for CinemaCon (March 31-April 3) in Las Vegas. In this survey, Fandango polled more than 5,000 cinephiles and categorized them into two groups: Avid Cinema-Goers, who watched five or more films in theaters during 2024, and Occasional Cinema-Goers, who attended fewer than four movies in theaters during that same year.

In response to the ongoing changes in consumer tastes and preferences, it’s crucial to grasp moviegoer habits to discover fresh avenues and boost the industry’s expansion. Jerramy Hainline, Fandango’s EVP, emphasized this point. This summer, with a varied selection of upcoming films that encompass superhero adventures, action-packed thrillers, and sequels to beloved cult classics, is demonstrating it has offerings for every movie enthusiast.

In the survey conducted, it was found that 41% of respondents were dedicated cinema-goers who watched approximately ten films in 2024. The data suggests these individuals tend to be millennials or Generation X, with a higher male predominance. Conversely, the remaining 59% of participants were occasional movie-watchers, attending an average of two films in 2024, and they are more likely to belong to Generation Z and identify as female.

It might be surprising to learn that neither “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” nor Superman is considered the most eagerly awaited movie for Summer 2025. Despite what comic book enthusiasts may believe, it seems the world doesn’t revolve around their favorite heroes as much as they think. Instead, it appears the Jurassic Park/Jurassic World franchise keeps producing films that attract a lot of anticipation from viewers.

Jurassic World Rebirth essentially serves as a fresh start for the series, with its storyline unfolding five years after the less successful and poorly received 2022 film, Jurassic World Dominion. Led by director Gareth Edwards, this movie features an impressive cast including Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, and Audrina Miranda.
