Three years since the end of the Jurassic World trilogy, and 32 years after Steven Spielberg revolutionized blockbusters with Jurassic Park, moviegoers are gearing up for another thrilling dinosaur experience on the big screen. The new installment, titled Jurassic World Rebirth, is set to premiere in July, with Gareth Edwards – director of Godzilla and Rogue One – taking charge, aiming to reinvigorate the series by returning it to its heart-pounding origins.
The movie won’t be premiering until July 2nd, but fans got a sneak peek of the action on Wednesday morning. A couple of days before the Super Bowl, where Universal is likely to show a brief advertisement for Jurassic World Rebirth, the full trailer for the film was unveiled online. Jurassic World: Reborn unfolds following the events of Jurassic World: Dominion, on an Earth now teeming with dinosaurs. Since the movies, many dinosaurs have withdrawn to islands close to the equator, where their habitat remains suitable. A group is dispatched to collect DNA samples from these dinos, aiming to develop a possible remedy for human heart ailments.
In “Jurassic World: Reborn,” original “Jurassic Park” screenwriter David Koepp revisits the franchise, penning a fresh script. Michael Crichton’s original work, guided by Steven Spielberg in 1993, once again finds its producer in Colin Trevorrow, who shepherded the blockbuster. The film boasts an impressive cast including Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Ed Skrein, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. In the five years following Jurassic World Dominion, Earth’s ecosystem has become largely unsuitable for dinosaurs, with the few remaining ones inhabiting isolated equatorial regions that mimic their original habitats. The largest of these prehistoric beasts possess genetic material crucial to a drug offering extraordinary medical advantages to humans. Oscar-nominated actress Johansson portrays Zora Bennett, an expert in covert operations who is hired to lead a team on a classified mission to obtain the genetic material from the three biggest dinosaurs in the world.
When Zora’s surgery coincides with a civilian family whose boat overturned due to attacking prehistoric sea creatures, they unexpectedly wind up on an island. There, they uncover a chilling secret that has remained concealed from humanity for many years.
