Kagurabachi Highlights Its Main Duo With First Look at Volume 4

As a dedicated fan who’s been following Kagurabachi since its inception, I must say this manga has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride! The way Takeru Hokazono weaves intricate plots and captivating characters is truly remarkable.

The popular manga series, “Kagurabachi,” continues to gain momentum and doesn’t seem to be slowing down. The latest issue, Volume 4, features the new primary characters as they take center stage in the battles. This manga made its debut in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine a year ago and has been an instant hit for the magazine since then. In fact, it generated much excitement among manga enthusiasts even before the first chapter was released, and it has managed to maintain that initial buzz with each subsequent chapter.

Kagurabachi marked the one-year milestone of its manga publication by launching a fresh storyline, where Chihiro Rokuhira is engaged in a brand new series of battles. However, this new arc also concludes a significant arc, the Rakuzaichi Auction, which significantly altered the very essence of the series. As a result, Kagurabachi now features a new pair at the heart of the action, as Hakuri Sazanami teams up with Chihiro on their deadly journey. The momentous shifts have led to them jointly gracing the cover art for Volume 4 of the Kagurabachi manga, set to be released in Japan on October 4th. Take a look at it below:

Kagurabachi: Who Is Hakuri Sazanami?

In the Rakuzaichi Auction storyline of Kagurabachi, we encounter Hakuri for the first time. This was one of the main arcs (or the third if you consider the introduction and vs. Sojo arcs as separate) where Chihiro managed to infiltrate the prestigious Rakuzaichi Auction to get nearer to the next Enchanted Blade, Shinuchi. The storyline starts with Chapter 19 of Hokazono’s original work, and here, we find Chihiro meeting Hakuri, who had been ousted by his own clan due to being considered a failure. However, witnessing Chihiro’s skills, Hakuri found new motivation.

Initially appearing quite eccentric for Chihiro’s typical path of vengeance, Hakaru surprisingly becomes one of Chihiro’s most crucial encounters so far. Working alongside Chihiro, Hakaru utilizes his familiarity with his family’s auction business to jointly dismantle it, even managing to breach the storehouse, a place only previously entered through Hakaru’s father’s magic. It is Hakaru who discovers a new power to command, and it is Hakaru who assists Chihiro in rescuing those held captive within.

Chihiro and Hakuri Team Up in Kagurabachi’s Future

After the downfall of the Sazanami family, Hakuri finds himself without a clear path forward. His strong bond with Chihiro, formed through their shared battles, leads him to join Chihiro on his quest for revenge. Now, due to Hakuri’s unwavering loyalty and support, Chihiro heavily relies on him in his intricate plan for the Sword Bearer Assassination Arc, which is currently unfolding in the latest installments of the series.

Originally hesitant about having someone fight alongside him, Chihiro now heavily depends on Hakuri as a crucial element in his strategy (utilizing Hakuri’s storehouse ability to preserve the Enchanted Blades and their bearers). This transformation over the first year of the series demonstrates just how dramatically things have shifted. The character of Chihiro is unrecognizable compared to his initial introduction, hinting at significant developments for the upcoming year of its serialization.
