Kagurabachi Reveals the Secret Danger Enchanted Blade Users Face

As a die-hard fan of Kagurabachi, I must say that this new arc has me absolutely thrilled! The Sword Bearer Assassination Arc is shaping up to be an exhilarating ride, with the revelation of the Enchanted Blades’ secrets adding a layer of complexity that I hadn’t anticipated.

Kagurabachi has launched a brand-new storyline for its first anniversary, unveiling the concealed peril associated with wielding Enchanted Blades. The current arc is known as the “Sword Bearer Assassination Arc,” and it centers around the sword bearers who have bound themselves to each enchanted blade. However, since these blades have been stolen, the users are now at risk of being eliminated by the Hishaku. To prevent this, Chihiro Rokuhira must intervene to safeguard all of them before they meet their untimely end and the swords find new bearers.

In the latest installment of the series, Chihiro explains that the Mystic Swords, or Enchanted Blades, have proven to be remarkably potent weapons. Some seem capable of causing immense destruction when wielded by anyone other than their initial contract holder. This is because a spirit’s energy courses through them. The twist is, to harness this spirit power and the blade’s might, the new user must forfeit their own inherent power.

Kagurabachi: How Do the Enchanted Blades Work?

In Chapter 47 of Kagurabachi, Chihiro joins forces with the Kamunabi as the Enchanted Blade wielders are under assault by the Hishaku, aiming to eliminate them and seize the blades for their own purposes. Chihiro confides in Hakuri that most people possess a single kind of spirit energy, which restricts its potential due to this limitation. This means that when a contract is formed with an Enchanted Blade, the user loses their initial magic abilities and can only access their spirit energy through the use of the blade.

Each of the Enchanted Blade bearers have been safeguarded by the Kamunabi since they were taken due to the fact that without these blades, they are essentially unprotected. This is demonstrated clearly with the first bearer we encounter, Yoji Uruha (under contract with Kumeyuri). Although he lacks the ability to defend himself against sorcerers using his skills, he possesses sufficient swordsmanship to hold them off temporarily.

This wrinkle in the Enchanted Blade usage certainly opens up a lot of questions about the paths the series can take moving forward, and Chihiro’s going to need to fight to defend each of these users to make sure the Hishaku don’t claim the Enchanted Blades instead.
